PBSC Spring 2015 Nursing

U.S.A. Florida

I created this thread for those applying to Spring 2015 LW Nursing. I am a returning student starting a second career. I have 4 prerequisites left that I am taking this summer. I also am taking the Critical Thinking class for a point. I took the Hesi last week to see how I would do and got an 85. I will have about 27 points for my app so not sure if I will take Hesi again. Good luck everyone.

It is a bit frustrating but we will see what happens. Good luck on your retake. We have a FB page by the way. It is a lot of the same people on here. PBSCSPRINGNURSING2015 and click join. Just an easy way to keep up with everything.

I spoke with latisha and I asked if it would be reasonable to subtract the 2 residential / fl resident points from the average accepted points last year & she said she's subtract 3 since the volunteer point is gone too. So i think 23 will be the new average for lw FT. When I mentioned that, she agreed. So your 24 will probably be fine!

Thanks for letting us know! I have a friend going to the next info session, so hopefully they will give the new minimum points for each program then.

Thanks, Jessica! It definitely makes me feel better knowing Latisha said that :) Good luck everyone!

When we were speaking about the new minimums and averages she said we won't know for sure until after this application , since they have nothing to compare too. However the fact that she said it only makes sense that it will adjust accordingly with the point changes . It made me feel better!

Makes sense. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting Latisha's view on the points! I'll be applying for LW FT with 25.32 points UNLESS I can squeeze out an extra point or two on the HESI. I'm planning on taking it next Thursday, I'm cramming for that and the first Pharm test. I got a 90 the first time I took the HESI so hopefully I can pull off a 91 for an extra point. I'm very nervous about the cut off!!

Fair warning that if you apply at the BG campus your clinical sites, for the first two semesters, will be split between belle glade and clewiston. I originally started at the BG campus and my sites were Lakeside hospital and Palms terrace in clewiston for first semester.

So you eventually switched to lw? How did that process go?

With the distance of clinical sites I was waking up at 430am from RPB to make it to clewiston by 7am, on top of taking pharm with first semester I ended up not passing first semester; I had to repeat. Since BG only accepts once a year I had the option to wait and start belle glade again or transfer to LW and wait a semester.

Gotcha. How is the schedule lined out at Bg? I'm taking pharmacology now so I won't need to take it first semester. What days & times roughly will I be driving out there?

Monday thur Thursday. Monday and Tuesday are clinical days in belle glade or clewiston, Wednesday and Thursday lecture days on the BG campus, then depending on what day you choose-- you'll also have one skills lab day added to either Wednesday or Thursday at the BG campus

Ok thanks for that info! How late do the days run? Like what time were you done for the day?
