has anyone ever attended or know someone who has attended keiser college school of nursing? Looking for information on price and quality of education?

RN is such a great career---that I can see why a lot of us want to pay big money just to become one.

Where I work, I see students from all over the city-- and everyone obviously has the same goal to be an RN!

Keep going at it no matter where you go, you will be an RN!

This sucks! I was getting excited to read about a program that I would be able to get into without waiting 1or 2 years and now I see it has a bad reputation.

The price tag didn't bother me so much, I received enough from the army college fund to pay for it. Are there any other recommendations for the Jacksonville area?

I agree. 30K for an associate's degree from a "university" that is not accredited--- is not a very smart choice.

waitingonagu08,-- good luck into getting into FCCJ!!!!!

THANKS I GOT IN!!! to FCCJ's nursing program. I am so excited...IDK if I previously mentioned but the gentleman (im being extremely nice in calling him that) from Keiser told me that I would NEVER be able to get into FCCJ's program that my grades weren't good enough. That I needed HIS school. I'm so glad to now say that tmrw is the first day of the next 16 months of my crazy/hectic life, and my GRADUATION DATE is December 7th 2009 WOO HOO!!!

Hello I was actually just accepted into the LPN program at keiser and was very pleased to hear your comment about being satified with the LPN's because surprisely I've heard the same thing. I've been so nervous about my decision to go to Keiser because I'd really like to get a move on my career as ultimately becoming an RN

Question to the Keiser students: Do any of you have a 4 year degree already? I have my degree in legal studies and would like to career change to get my RN. I've decided on keiser because I don't want to take 3-4 years to get the rn from the comm. college. The only thing holding me back from going full throttle is funding. Private loans are always an option i suppose. I'd like to hear what you guys did.

Thanks

The jacksonville campus is provisional also. They have to have 21 students pass at one time and the classes don't have 21 students in them at Graduation. I have did my research and every college I called will take credits from Keiser. I am just waiting to take the NET test on tuesday! I am very nervous. Please wish me luck. And I would appreciate any suggestions for passing the NET. Thanks.

I have never heard of these exams, most nursing exams are not a scored test but a smart test that only measures pass or fail, not a score, they give you questions til it knows the answer, some get fewer questions (those that ace it) some get a lot (those that fail or barely pass), similar to the NCLEX

FYI: CAP is a standardized exam that gives a numeric score, ranks you in comparison with your classmates, and ranks you again compared to other students in the country who also sat the exam. It's been a long time, but when I took them it was paper-and-pencil, not computerized, although we're talking about a looooong time ago.

Where are you working that you make $21 an hour? I too paid way too much for an LPN program (25K). I will be graduating in 2 weeks. I'm in MI and LPN's start anywhere from $16 - $24 an hour. How does that compare down in FL? I would love to move somewhere warmer.

I went and met with an admissions counselor @ Keiser Career College in Miami Lakes and was turned off. I spoke with a guy who scheduled me to come in only to meet with another guy who asked me a bunch of questions to determine if I was right for nursing and vice versa?!? He then had me to take a scholastic test, which was ok, he says I scored well enough. I've already taken the TEAS about a month to a month and a half ago. This guy tells me, oh we won't accept your results from another school because "this school is not accredited!" The school is indeed accredited!!!!!! I also explained to him that I am not working and getting any type of extra funds to take this test again will not be easy, he says I will still need to pay and take it if I want to go to their school. Mind you, I gave him my teas results and he says I did great, so what's the problem? I'll just wait for the next term at the original school I was going to go to and to heck with Keiser. The original school is like $13,000 cheaper and is just as reputable and the staff is way more accomodating and friendlier. Just my :twocents:!

I also recently met with an admissions counselor @ Keiser Career College in Miami Lakes. While he was a little off putting (he was trying to get me involved in his MLM business while telling me about the LPN program and how I could pay for school with the money I make by joining his business :uhoh3:), I am still impressed with the school and its student success rate. Luckily once I complete my admission process I won't have to deal with him anymore.

I also dont have the time to wait a year or more on waiting lists. I would like to be finished with school next year this time.

At 32, I have decided on a career change after being a Special Education Teacher for almost 10 years, but I have been forced to sub for the past 2 years.

WOW!!! $19k per year FOR AN LPN PROGRAM? that is so expensive for a $13/hr job you will get as an LPN here in FL

Apparently you haven't worked as a LPN in FL.
