I'm a Certified Nursing Assistant in CA seeking advice.I'm working 4 days 10 hour shift. My shift ends 6pm,6:30pm(2) & 7pm.We have overnight nurses coming @ 6pm with night differential.Questions being ask are the following:

1. Can we leave @ 5:53pm;6:23pm & 6:53pm even without telling the overnight nurses on floor because the machine accepts clock- out 5:53pm when your shift ends @ 6pm;6:23pm when shift ends 6:30pm & 6:53pm when shift ends 7pm?There are (2) overnight nurses coming @ 6pm and there's still patient of 1-3.Our surgery center volume range most of the time 69-90 cases a day.Can this be considered abandonment of patient?

2. Usually (1) CNA leaving @ 7pm for this 10 hour shift. Can the overnight nurses(2) hold the CNA to stay if they have 1-3 patients left? What if the CNA refuse,is this will be considered an abandonment? If they will hold the CNA to stay, for how long?

3. What if the late person leaving @ 7pm scheduled for the day get off early because of some emergency or call-in sick for the day and there are (2) CNAs  scheduled for the day leaving @ 6:30pm,can the overnight nurses(2) coming @ 6pm can hold (1) of the CNAs who are supposed to be leaving @ 6:30pm?Overnight nurses(2) has 1-3 patients left.

4. Can our manager change our shift which are:8am-6:30pm(2);8:30am-7pm(1);7:30am-6pm(1) in order to help the overnight nurses(2) coming @ 6pm?
