FSCJ Spring 2012 Hopeful w/???s

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.

I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Yes this was the wrong info. You have to complete ap2 before you can apply or be considered for the program. You can apply with micro in progress but not AP. If you apply to the program with micro in progress, just calculate your points like normal, you just wont have any micro points to add.

Thanks for the help. I was afraid that was the case. I'm so discouraged now about having to wait until the Summer 2012 program. :(

Dont be discouraged. It will be worth the wait. Its very hard to get in w/o micro anyhow. The cutoff points are getting higher and higher every year so a person needs every point they can get. Also, you'll do better on the NAT if youve taken micro.

If you are taking Micro and AP2 in the fall then you can apply for the program take the nat at the end of fall then if you do very well keep your first scores.

But she does have to complete ap2

I think this is one of the problems with FSCJ. They are not very clear on certain requirements and advice differs from one advisor to the next. The program packet clearly states that Micro is the only mandatory prereq that you can be completing when you submit your application. However, I was in the same situation as the OP (for Spring) and was also told by an advisor at South campus that I could apply while I was in Micro and A&P2. The reality is though that is highly unlikely you would get into the program without those possible 32 points (I didn't even try), plus A&P2 will help you get a better score on the NAT. You can try to submit your application, but there is not guarantee that the nursing department will even look at it without your A&P2 score being submitted. I know it is frustrating, because I have been there and am actually at a point were I don't have any classes left to take for this semester. It is a waiting game, but the reward is definitely worth it!

yep. waiting game for me to. Well, we have almost 2 weeks down:D

I usually tell people to just go to north campus for nursing advice. any other campus is most likely gonna give u cruddy info

Lindsayk28, I'm in the same situation. I was hoping to apply for Spring 2012 but will have to wait until Summer 2012 because I am taking APII and Micro in the fall. I'm really bummed about it too. I am glad you started this thread though. I've been checking in from time-to-time to see if anytone has started a Spring 2012 yet. Now, I'll be looking for a Summer 2012 thread. R U with me? :lol2: I'm taking Chem 1032C now and API this summer. K nurse-one-day, I've also heard to speak with advisors from North Campus about the nursing program.

Hello all,

I was also hoping to apply for Spring 2012 but will not have any Micro points to consider and have not taken the PSB. I took Algebra years ago and got a C so that is bringing my score down a bit. I am taking A&P 2 in the Summer and Micro in Fall so I plan to take the PSB between now and then with enough time to take it a second time if needed. I don't know why but the PSB is stressing me out the most. I really just want to get in and get going with the nursing.

Does anyone have any advice for the PSB. I am super worried that my points won't be high enough since I can only do the night/weekend program.

We'll see.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for those planning to apply for the Spring 2012 ASN program! I am taking AP2 this summer and then will be applying while taking Microbio in the fall. I'm taking the NAT for my first time in two weeks and I'm extremely anxious/nervous! I hope I do well! Anyone know how the point system works for the NAT? without it I have 178 points without completing AP2 and Microbio :/
