Hello ,

I'm a foreign nurse,I failed my N'CLEX- RN exam in August.Obviously,I have to review my knowledges and practice tests again because my score was in majority near the passing standard.I would like to know if my reviews are correct and effective:i practiced around 4000 questions in Lippincutt and Saunders book.I also reviewed my courses in Saunders comprehensive review for NCLEX-RN,so my question is:Do you think that I am on a good way to success my exam if i continue in this way or should I review other courses in other books.Do you think, you,American RN that the courses in this kind of review books are enough to success for this type of exam?Thank you very much to answer me.It would be very helpful.

Hi joun, I have not yet bought a nclex-rn review book, but I can give you some recommendations. On http://www.amazon.com, there is a list of review books. Here are the ones with the highest customer (reader) rating of 5 stars:

1. Lippincotts review

2.Kaplan book with CD-ROM

3.Nclex-rn review made incredibly easy (by Springhouse)

This site might help and there are more listed in a "sticky" thread called Websites at the top of the student nurse forum.

A good review book is the key, like Saunders. Kaplan was not recommended by my hospital nor my school....it was all strategy and no content review, I too took the test and the Kaplan way did not work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for you. Everyone has different learning styles. I would strongly recommend content review, then answer as many questions as your brain can possibly take! Good luck...you CAN DO IT!!!!!!

Thank you very much for your good advices.I think(as you said NicuNsg:) )I 'm going to continue my reviews deeply and practice more & more questions in this kind of books!!;) But,if someone has other experience and advice to give me,go ahead!Thank you!

The Kaplan book only allows a couple of practice tests. Saunders and Mosby were great. I do recommend that you learn to prioritize patients. None of the books seem to spend a lot of time on that part.

I used Springhouse too, so there are my top three. I sold all of my books on amazon.com for less than what the stores are asking for, so check there. Good luck.

I stuck strictly with Saunders... did all the 4000 + questions.... over and over again. Went through the CD over and over again... as well as the questions at the end of each chapter of the book.

Yes, as stated above, DO learn to "prioritize" each patient situation... the "ABC's"... airway, breathing, circulation. Look for questions to be what is MOST important to do in each patient situation...

Wish you the best ! :)

:) I praticed questions on the computer over and over. I used the CD that came with the Saunder's book and Mosby's. The one that most of my classmates used and they passed was the NCLEX 3000. Good Luck!

Christine

Thank you!!! :)

I used the Saunder's book to prepare for the NCLEX. I went through the entire book and reviewed each section and did practice questions at the end of the section. Then I did the comprehensive test at the end of the book. Also, the CD that comes with the Saunder's book is really helpful and has lots and lots of good questions. This is the only review I used for the NCLEX and I passed. I def. recommend it! Hope this helps!
