To those who wants to quit nursing: Try another job!!

Hi everyone,

This is my first time to start a topic here on this website. I just want to tell you my experience and hope it can help some people.

I got my LVN licence in july 2013 and found a LVN job in a rehab center in september. I've heard different stories about how stressful the first job could be . But I don't know it's that hard. I start on my own after 8 days of orientation. Every day I dread to go to work, I cried when driving home after work, I had nightmares at night and can't fall asleep, keeping thinking did i do something wrong at work. I cried to my husband for several times. It was horrible horrible time in my life. sometimes when i watch the housekeeping lady at work, i just wish i can switch with her so i don't have to deal with all the work and stress.

Anyways After 5 month i seriously think about quitting nursing as a career, but meantime thank God I got an interview in a local hospital clinic and i got the job. until now everything is good, the clinic enviornment are calm and non stressful, coworkers are nice and they actually answer your questions when you ask, I like it so far and I write this for those new nurses who may have same experience, go try another different job before you quit. That's a good thing about nursing, it has a lot of fields.

I am starting LVN school this September and I am so excited about it! I have been working as a CNA for a year now and I am looking to further advance my career in Nursing. I am working in LTC now and i must say it is stressful for everyone, LVN's, CNA's, RN's included. I always heard that as an LVN we could only find jobs in LTC but I am glad to hear that there are clinic/outpatient care jobs out there for LVN's!

I was a LPN and I worked in corrections. Home health was also another popular field that my classmates worked in. Around here, LTC don't want to hire (brand new) LPN's.
