I am also a CNA in Dallas, TX and I have also completed Pre-reqs and got A's and B's but my basic classes i didn't do so well partly because I was so focused on my Prereqs that I didn't do so well so my GPA is not competitive. I hear that even with a perfect GPA and good grades that the waiting lists are long so that is why I decided to go the LVN route and later get my RN. I am attending Concorde this September for my LVN!

I am starting LVN school this September and I am so excited about it! I have been working as a CNA for a year now and I am looking to further advance my career in Nursing. I am working in LTC now and i must say it is stressful for everyone, LVN's, CNA's, RN's included. I always heard that as an LVN we could only find jobs in LTC but I am glad to hear that there are clinic/outpatient care jobs out there for LVN's! Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you! I was not aware that IV therapy and blood draws are not a part of LVN curriculums. I hear LVN's also make the BEST RN's in the long run!! :)

My name is Paula, I am a former student at Navarro College and I am interested in the Vocational Nursing program at Navarro. I am seeking to advance my career in Nursing and I am currently working as a CNA in a long-term care facility here in Dallas. My ultimate goal is to become an RN, but for now I am seeking a vocational program that is accredited and will help me into eventually bridging to an RN program without fear of my credits not being transferable. I am looking at a school near me in Dallas, called Dallas Nursing Institute and they start classes every three months I think but the cost is very steep. I'm also not sure if receiving my LVN there would be a good idea because it is a trade school and I'm not sure if any of my credits would transfer to an RN program. I am very reluctant to following through with Dallas Nursing Institute due to the bad reviews I've seen. I also went to visit Dallas Nursing Institute today and I am scheduled to take the Hesi on June 3, 2014. The admissions representative also mentioned that drawing blood and administering IV's is not a part of the vocational nursing curriculum which brought me to a halt as well. I am looking for any good accredited vocational nursing programs that are around. I would like to start as soon as possible and would like any insight from anyone who knows more about this than I do.
