I failed a physical!

Has anyone else ever failed a pre-employment physical? The only thing I didn't pass was because my heart rate was 120. They said it HAD to be between 60-100. I have always had a fast heart rate. I am also on some meds that may cause tachycardia. :angryfire So now what do I do?:madface:

Man! I am sorry about that. I guess I had never thought about something like that. Maybe you should see a specialist and get another opinion.

I'm sorry to hear of that happening to you.

I do know a nurse who failed due to a hx of back problems.

Talk to your doctors. See if they can do something to adjust your meds & address the tachycardia

What if you got a note from your own physician? I would ask someone higher up what you can do. As nurses they should know the side effects of your medications. Are you sure that IS the real reason?

If you have not discussed this with your PCP yet, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make and appointment and perhaps a cardiology consult and workup are in order.

First of all she said it HAD to be under a 100, and that is the ONLY thing I failed.

I did go get a note from my PCP and took it to them today. The NP wasn't there yet and the nurse said she would call me if the note "wasn't good enough". So I didn't hear anything today. I guess that is good. I'm gonna call tomorrow and see if I'm cleared yet. I'll let u know.

PS Why is it not ok for me 5'2 116lbs to have a high heart rate, yet it IS ok for a classmate 5'7 OVER 500lbs. I know the classmate has high BP. YET the classmate got cleared and I didn't! sound fair to u?

The 500 pound classmate may be on blood pressure medications and is under control. If she passed the other parts of the physical then her weight is her business. Have you ever had a workup just to be certain that there isn't an underlying issue causing the tach? A pcp note probably will clear you if so. Good luck.

Yeah that was true about the classmate. I was just mad. I was cleared after my note from my PCP.
