ok I think that I am the longest. how about it will have taken me 5 years to get ann assoc. degree. One year of pre-req's, 2 years on the never ending waiting list ( still taking classes part time while on the list. ) then 2 years for the full time nursing program. So in december it will be 5 years and still well worth it. By the way if I had known that the waiting list was that long (they don't tell you or I should say wont) I would have gone straight for my BSN

started in aug 03 full time at one of the state universities. school did not have a nursing program but did have a pre-nursing program. i applied to 3 universities and got accepted by all 3. made my pick and graduated in may 07 (3yrs and 9months). i was 33 when i started back and have a family who supported me. i went full time every summer and my first two years i took a lighter load of only 12 credit hours while in nursing school took 15 credit hours per semester. i am glad that i went the bsn route and would not have changed that. i want to continue on with my education.

Specializes in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.

Okay i was in school for 5 years total 2002-2007, no transfers. I went to college as soon i graduated high school. it was 2 years prereqs for the school, then i applied to the program got in, that took 3 years to complete. that is just how my program was ran. I recieved my BSN. Yes it was worth it. I worked long and hard and had fun my entire tim3 of college. i actually miss it. Now im a new grad for the med-surg unit.

battpos,

do you still regret going the BSN route? I am in a sort of similar situation where I am on a two year ADN wait list or I can start in Fall 2008 as a nursing student at a private school. I have 15K in loans from my BA in Psychology and if I take the private school route, I will probably have loans between 60-70K. My friend who is a charge nurse says to go the BSN route in case I ever want to go into management.

thoughts?

from june 2003 to april 2007. it took me 4 years un Nursing School, im a regular students, no back subjects or failing grades. good for me, because our tuition fee is really expensive.

i started my pre-req's in the fall of 2004 and will graduate in december of this year. i was 28 when i started and will be 32 once i graduate. (my b-day is on the fault line-aug. 30th) i also took classes for 2 summers in between. so, 3 years total for me and i went full-time all the way.

i began at one community college and got my cna certificate there and completed most of my pre-req's there then applied at another community college for the program and got in on 1st try. so, two schools and 3 years for my adn.

I'm a 2nd degree student (took me 7 years to get the 1st one), so technically it's taken me 8 years (I'll graduate in December) to get my nursing degree. I think I beat everyone one here LOL!

Um, I did my pre reqs part time. Started the program and moved after first semester. Moved back and jumped back in where I left off. Part time, without the move included, it will have taken me 4 yrs if/when I grad this Dec. Thought I would be done @ 33, now it is 35! :) I'm over it, now!:uhoh3: (Getting an Associate degree and had 3 yrs towards a psych degree which cut some of my pre-reqs out.)

Don't feel bad, it's taken me even longer...

5 years for my first BS

3 semesters part time in grad school while working = about 1 year

3 years through another course of study from which I left before finishing my degree

1 semester in vocational training

1 semester to finish my NS prereqs

NS = 5 semesters in 18 months

Grand total = 26 semesters over 11-1/2 years resulting in a non-nursing BS and an MSN

Specializes in LTC, MDS Cordnator, Mental Health.

I was 45 when I went to back to school it took 10months to do the LPN 3Semesters and 4semesters to do my RN. I start my pre-req for the RN to masters this fall

I took an accelerated 11-month Bachelors program at in philadelphia. hard but worth it!
