I graduated last May, and still have not passed the boards. I took the nclex review course offered at college, and I am now taking the ncsbn online course. I am getting so depressed. I have 2 kids and I am a stay at home mom. I study when I get the chance. I have no family to help me, and I have limited income. I did great in college and made the dean's list every semester. THis will be my 3rd attempt to pass the test. I take it on the 20th. I am getting fustrated cause when I do the questions, I am not getting very many right. I have the Kaplans book and I have done that too..I am about ready to just give up... I need to pass just to get a job to put food on the table............4_9_8.gif

Don't give up, Amanda you have put so much into this. Have you tried the Lippencott NCLEX review? IT's very comprehensive, and covers everything. ALso, I was recently given a copy of a book called Nursing Made Insanely Easy by Sylvia Rayfield & Loretta Manning. If you're a visual learner, it will help you immensely. It uses pictures, acronyms, and mnemonics, and I "wish" I had it in nursing school. You may be able to pick up a used copy on amazon or another online bookstore. I can't recomnend that book enough. I browsed through it the week before I sat for boards, and I think it helped me.

Keep plugging on Amanda, you owe it to yourself and your kids. You worked hard for this, and you *will* pass, and long as you don't give up!

Best of luck to you.

Amanda,

We are all thinking good thoughts for you... You will do it this time. I take mine Friday and I know your feeling. I did not pass the 1st time and I am scared to death. My job held my full-time day position the 1st time but now we are on a hiring freeze (no nursing stortage at my hospital) and I don't think they will hold my job for another 90 days... Good luck, keep us posted. Update tomorrow and tell me about the new test....

thanks everyone...I will let eveyone know tomorrow how many questions I got, and how I feel. Thanks for all the support.........

Amanda44,

Just wanted 2 congratulate U on graduating RN school, that is one helluva accomplishment. I'm sorry that U "unpassed" your boards. But I am soooo glad that U R NOT giving up. Notice I said "unpassed"... U R only a failure if U quit and I am happy that U R getting back up and fighting. U can and will pass this test. It's amazing that all that stress, sacrifice, and hard work that it took 2 graduate RN school that it all boils down 2 one test (NCLEX). Unfortunately.... this is the only way 2 become an RN. I am just letting U know that we know that U will get thru this and become an RN. U will become a better RN and even cherish your license more when that special day comes. I just wanted 2 give U my shoulders, support, and most of all my prayers 2 U. I also want 2 give me prayers 2 dimpsogn, wnt2besurgrn, momX2, hafsa44, and jazznkate 4 a successful NCLEX day.

Take care and God bless,

WARHAWK

thank you so much for the encouragement....I appreciate it....

amanda, hang in there!

I plan on taking the 2 week Kaplan Class Course that starts at 6 pm Mon-Thurs evenings in San Jose. If you have a car and would like some company and share gas money, let me know ASAP!

amanda,

gather all the nclex review books that you can and just do questions. i intended on taking the kaplan course before my test but was unable to. a friend who took it gave me the cd's with the questions. it was a really great help. all my friends who used it passed. if there is anyway that you can take the course it would probably prove beneficial. when you do the questions in the kaplan review book how do you do? as hard as it is my advice is to be eternally optimistic- that got me through. i wish you all the luck. try to get out of your house and study with someone.

I have 3 different friends that each failed the NCLEX 3-4 times and then they passed. For some people it just takes a little longer, but GOD has a reason for everything he does. So just hang on and keep trying! You can do it!
