Having a hard time finding a RN-BSN program that accepts Excelsior Credits/degree

Just beginning TCN then to Excelsior

Philadelphia PA

As i furthered my research into my courses I found out that the 6 main schools i contacted dont accept my future degree thru excelsior. If thats the case i would have never signed up for TCN thru Excelsior. Im so confused as to what to do. Im not sure if i should chalk up my money and start fresh into a local school program or finish my courses thru excelsior, hoping that one day i can find a bsn program that will accept my credits. I am scheduled to take Lifespan developmental in the beginning of febuary but im so upset i cant even focus.

Has anyone else had a hard time getting into a bsn program with your excelsior credits? Although Excelsior says they can be transferred, im not putting my faith in them right now. I feel like it would be pointless to continue the program if i can only be an rn:banghead:

Is there any light at the end of this tunnel? Are their nurses that have succefully completed the program and went for their BSn at a local school?

My ultimate goal is to be a CRNA. I already know the requirements but a part of me feels like because its online schooling, its gonna come back to bite me in the butt

If you want to quit TCN quit in the contracted time if not you will be stuck with those loans. Read your contract. I thought for a minute this would be a good idea and signed that dotted line. Luckily for me I quit in time and canceled. Some of my friends were not but still owe TCN thousands.Good luck!

BSN programs grant credit for your LICENSE - not for your college nursing classes (whether Excelsior or anyone else!) - You may need to take ANP, MIcro, and chemistry though because alot of colleges require a hands-on lab with the sciences.

BSN programs grant credit for their License, general education courses and nursing research course .

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

Had no problem getting into my local university for RN-BSN after EC. It actually worked to my advantage because they gave me credit for Transtions to Nursing from EC.Those

credit allowed me start 1. 5 month

after everyone else making it a 10

month program for me and 12 for them.

TCN is a SCAM and not endorsed by Excelsior. You will have better luck using the recommended textbooks from the college and StudyGroup 101. I've even used a later edition of the recommended textbooks and done quite well. Check your contract and exit NOW!!!

Specializes in Acute, Adult Gerontology.

I graduated EC LVN - RN, then did my BSN through Texas Tech, I am Currently enrolled at UTMB for my FNP. Living proof that excelsior was the best choice I made in regards to my nursing carrier. Plus I currently work in ICU.

I think people clump the College Network with EC. They are not the same thing. As others have pointed out, EC is accredited and is non-profit. For the record, I completed my LPN-BSN online with Indiana State. I did use TCN study guides and tested out of quite a few classes. Could I have just studied and "clepped" out on my own? Sure, but I didn't know that at the time.

Oh no be careful with those programs stating that they are affiliated with Excelsior because they are not. They sell high priced study guides and charge you an extra $12,000 (not including Excelsiors fees) to take their bs exams.

Try Chamberlain school of nursing online, , Neuman, U Penn, etc. I am from Philadelphia area as well do your schooling directly through exvelsior and save your money and time.
