My New Years Eve was not as exciting as I hoped it would be. Saw someone whose jaw was broken with a bat and the usual drunk and vomiting. Did anyone see something more interesting?

Abd stab wound with lacerated liver and had to be flown out. No pain complaints. That was my most critical.7 day old wih nausea, no vomiting no fever, just nausea. At least the parents weren't out partying. My least critical.

"What brings you to the ER tonight?" "I'm having sinus pressure." That was her only Sx. One of our PA's saw her and she was appalled that she did not get any antibiotics or pain medications. It's amazing what some think is an emergency!

I had a parent complain once about how the FREE cab we were offering her would take too long to come and how we "didn't even do nothing" for her kid. Well lady, you're the one who called 911 for vomiting x1 in the middle of the night.

I didn't work NYE but we had 3 GSWs in the leg come in right around the same time the other night from the same party. Everyone was fine and I was DISSAPOINT with the x-rays cause you could barely see anything. Which is, you know, good for the patient but not very exciting for the nurse.

GSW to the butt! The guy was more concerned that the police were going to take his shoes as evidence then the hole in his behind. At one point he got off the cart and put his shoes back on.....buck naked except for his Jordans!!!

Stable... but the ED staff was mad as heck that someone could do such a thing to a kid...

A passed out hypothermic drunk w/ BAL .472, HIV +, with projectile GI bleed vomiting, who finally became semi alert 4 hours into the stay and had to be manhandled every 15 seconds back to bed while crying the whole time about his deceased family members.

And, a dialysis pt, sent in from the HD unit after they finished his run, because he felt "syncopal" and had a temp during the run. Semi quad, get him from w/c to stretcher, get his clothes off, gown on, still smell funk, get to his feet- half the 2nd toe tip came off with his sock.

For the love of gawd, dude- when was the last time you looked at this toe??

Same socks since thanksgiving. :eek:

Yuck! Reminds me of the time someone borrowed my trauma shears. She came back to tell me they were soaking in bleach because the doc used them to amputate toes that were barely hanging on.

Not working now due to health issues, but hopefully the last NYE would count. A guy in his 30s who our EMS brought in. post truck vs ped. He had a syncopal episode in the bus, but came alive again after arriving in one of our trauma rooms. Getting him ready for radiology, staff found 3 rocks of crack in his boot. He went NUTS just arter arriving, and when the PD told him the crack had been discovered, he stood up still secured to the EMS stretcher and tried to run out of the trauma room, stretcher and all. When we finally got xrays, he had bilateral fx of the femur.

The PCP that he added to the mix quickly explained the stretcher walking incident. Hurt me to even watch.
