From my experience, it varies on whether or not you go through an agency. I joined the agency Maxim 2 years ago and actually make a significant amount more than i did when i was just working at the facility. I have benefits and the same amount of flexibility too.

I think pay depends on alot of things, mainly experience and the shift that you decide to take. Also the location you decide to work in. I am sure you'll get paid more for working a night or evening shift versus a day shift. Julesar is right too, you can get paid more working for an agency than a facility. I haven't worked for an agency as a nurse yet, but I have as a CNA. When I contracted with the agency to go to a certain facility that later hired me as regular staff, I was getting paid more working for the agency, a whole $3.00 more for the same work.

I Do Know In Montgomery Alabama In Correctional Nursing The Pay Is 22.00/hr With Benefits. In the hospital 25.00/hr without Benefits. In New Orleans It Is 26.49/hr For Days And 29.49/hr For Nights Without Benefits For Lpns At The Hospital

what hospital is that in new orleans? do you have to have a year experience to get paid that much? what do they pay you fresh out of school? i live in metairie.

Wow, $28/hr for an LPN, that really is very good! How many yrs has your friend been practicing? From what I know the starting salary for a new RN at Yale is around $25-26/hr? I believe this is really unfair. Not taking anything away from an LPN, but there is much more educational requirements for an RN than for an LPN so the pay rate should be substantially higher. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, the pay rate for new grads is around $38++ in Fairfield County. That also is not fair in my opinion. New Haven Cty does pay less though. I am amazed that the staff RN rates are $63K for New Britain!

Wow 28 and hr in 2005? My goodness. Just goes to show you where there is a need, pay goes up. Thats why RNs make so much. I am a physio with a harder program but get less than an RN. However I am more satisfied. So I see what you are saying.

My friend who is an LPN and in school with me right now makes 28.00 an hour in New Haven. Seems like good pay :)

There are some job postings for staff RN, starting at 63,000 in Hartford/New Britain area. Visit salary.com

Does she still happen to work in New haven? I will be moving there and dont know which places to choose from or what the 2009 pay rate is...

I'd like to hear from you or anyone else.

Thanks

Please let me know what facility that pays $26/hr for new grads in CT!!!! I know the post is a few years old and if that is what they paid then it should be higher??? Just a guess, LOL! I live in Massachusetts and will commute to CT. My schedule is flexible, but primarily looking for a baylor shift if they have that anywhere in CT. Please contact me with specifics.

Kind Regards,
