Hello Fellow Nursing Students/Graduates, I have posted before and I am currently in a LPN Program. I was told by admissions that I would get credit for previous first semeseter credits in the program and now that I am in they won't give me credit. No big deal but kinda angry with the miscommunication. I think everything happens for a reason. But my post is to primarily find out if there are any nurses that decided to go the ISU route in Massachusetts. I know that Mass accepts the program but it was kinda hard to find any info on this site about current students or graduates from Mass. I have a really good job now and plan to work their part time/per diem after graduation and wanted to take my time to get my BSN. I called every BSN college that is close to me and they all have you start from scratch or your possibilites are slim as a transfer student. I have the majority of the pre-reqs and just wanted to get some feed back on your experiences. I apologize if this has been posted somewhere and if so please give me the link, so that I don't waste anyones time. I know this year will fly by and I wanna get started as soon as possible with my research and start saving money. I spoke with a rep from the TCN and she said apply when I have 4 months left. Don't know about that but I saw that Mass General is the place to do clinicals and that is extremely far for me in Worcester County area. So if anyone has comments please respond. Thanks for replying, I was looking at EC after many posts on the site and truthfully it looks very intriguing. I was also looking to see if Mass accepted EC grads but you have answered my question as a former grad of EC. How did you like the program and how long ago did you graduate? I have been a self study type of person throughout my college education and was unable to study with others because of lack of committment or whatever....could have just been me as well, lol. But if you could share with me your experience and how you went about studying materials and other tips, please pm me. I have been surfing the EC posts on the site and found some really valuable info but was curious specificially about mass grads. In addition, how far did you have to travel for CPNE and what does FCCA consist of? Still haven't seen a post on that yet. Well thank you for your time and have a nice day.

Thanks, I have called schools and they tell me different things so I was hoping to get it first hand from a student. In addition, I am in school now otherwise I wouldn't be posting about this. I am focused on my program but it is nothing wrong with inquiring to know your next step. Where have you taught the PN Program? And my question was do you need a year experience to bridge right over??? I am fairly new to the site so I am learning how to navigate and post therefore, I don't have all my info posted regardless if my profile says member since 07'. I just need a general question answered, if you have a trail of negativity please don't respond. And all the BON is going to do is give me schools in the area that have nursing programs. Not necessarily bridge programs or who give credit for what!! If any LPN is interested in bridging so far (that I know of) MWCC, QCC, Quincy, NECC, AUC, and Salem State (BSN) give some credit for PN program but don't know if a year of experience as a LPN is needed before applying. Anymore info would be appreciated. Everyone has a different situation and different things that motivate them!!

Hello Ladies and Gents!! I have searched all over the site and was unable to find an accurate answer to my question. It would also help if I state the question as well...heeheheee!! Well, I am trying to figure out is it possible to do a LPN to RN(ADN) bridge program in Massachusetts without having the year experience. If there is anyone who has done this without the experience please state what college and how long ago. In addition, if you know of any state or private colleges that give credit for at least the first semester in nursing where I can bridge into the 2 or 3rd class in the program. Basically, I can't sleep at night because of my desire to be a nurse and it is reall consuming me until I get myself into a program. So, if anyone can give some advice, ideas, or a some ease to an inspiring nurse, please respond. TIA

Thanks for responding VM85. I tried to PM you but I don't have enough posts yet to PM. But to my knowledge the community colleges don't have a LPN to BSN program. It is specifically LPN bridge to an ASN in nursing. I searched the blogs and really Massachusetts nurses aren't really focusing on Salem State College for this particuler program. So thought I would get an answer starting my own....NOT!! But anywho, I believe I should try to get my ASN first instead straight BSN anyway. So yes, if you could PM me maybe I can respond that way. I live in Worcester County and I will travel at least an hour away provided that I find a job close enough to the program. TIA again!!!

Hello to All!! I was wondering if anyone had any information on the LPN to BSN program at Salem State Colleg in Massachusetts. See I was racking my brain to either do LPN or RN and decided to do LPN (again):imbar!! Good news is that it is cheaper and I get to use credits from another college; so I will finish early. Therefore, I am trying to further my education by Gods grace to be a RN/BSN. If anyone has any information on the program at Salem State, please respond. Even if they heard second hand that would be greatly appreciated. In addition, if there are any other programs that offer the LPN to BSN route excluding distance learning because I am the type of person that needs to be in a seat observing or else I will be finished.:lol_hitti TIA, Mzj0nes

I guess AUC is a discreet college!! If there is anyone out there in allnurses who has ever heard of AUC (positive or negative) and the nursing program please respond. I live in proximity of three colleges. One where there is a lottery, one where there is a waiting list until 2012, depending if anyone drops out. Lastly, there is AUC no waiting list with starts in Spring and Fall. Where are the massachusetts nursing students or former graduates???

Is there anyone with information on AUC??? Anything would be appreciated! TIA

Hello Davisk01, I am about to attend AUC for Spring 2010 and I would like to know more information about the program. The website has pretty much no information on the program, however they did give me the break down of the classes needed for ASN and BSN. My questions are basically what are the clinical schedules like? What hospitals do you do the clinicals in? Are the professors good? Can you work while in the program? Is there alot of grants or schloarships available to help with tuition and books? Overall, how do you rate the program and do you feel prepared to graduate/take nclex RN? I was going to do the LPN program at MWCC but thought long and hard and decided to go with RN. AUC has no waiting list and seems like a great program thus far. TIA

Basically, I was inquiring because I wanted to know if it is worth the trouble in Massachusetts to become an LPN. Coming from multiple states the requirements are different for nursing programs and which includes LPN-RN Bridge programs. With a swarm of students of all sudden who want to become nurses for the money or whatever other factor there is...leaves waiting lists, paying thousands of dollars for your education, and than an abundance of students looking for employment. So if I can't find but two jobs on a website for per diem LPN (non-agency), and the rest you gotta go door to door to get an application, which I don't even know where to begin at in Worcester County, CT, RI; sounds like a waste of time. So at the end of the day, I am a person who plans and gets things in order ahead of time. That is why I have enough credits to get into a BSN program. It is just the waiting lists that are a hindurance or suck it up and go to a 30,000/yr school for my RN. I feel that it is most students mistakes that they don't inquire to last minute and get the short end of the stick. So if anyone, has places in the worcester county, CT, RI area that hires LPNs, I would appreciate the listings. In addition, I have been in an LPN program before but had to leave for personal reasons but am able to start where I left off, therefore not having to complete all the courses, which means I will graduate before a year. So if I start looking now by the time I finish I will through the grace of God found employment. TIA

Basically, you need to ask yourself what is your ultimate goal. If you want to continue on to be an RN then LPN is your option. I have taken a MA program and truthfully regret it. Not because of what they do but because I wanted to be a RN from jump. So I totally wasted my time for a year when I could have gotten my LPN. Which I am gritting my teeth now trying to decide whether to go all out and do the RN or take my time (already 5 years) and do the LPN.Depending on the state regulations, you will learn what an MA does in a LPN Program. Most likely the same amount money for both programs but LPNs get paid more. In addition, when you decide in taking whatever program that you choose, my advice is to do it at a comunity college so that if you decide upon your future goals and need to further education, you already have college credits.....I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

Thank you for responding....will do more research and find out where exactly the $22+/hr jobs are. Most places don't out right put the salary on the postings. If anyone knows of a place where they do start at this range for new grads and primarily a LTAC hospital/Facillity, please respond. In addition, I believe that agencies don't hire anyone without a year experience. Also, I was interested in baylor shifts if they are still existent and would even commute to Conneticut or New Hampshire if the money is right. Don't get me wrong I am really passionate about being a nurse but I also need to survive. I am a single mother that has been breaking her back for years and would finally like to end this massacre!!! Wow, didn't know insurance companies hire LPNs....but for what??

Please let me know what facility that pays $26/hr for new grads in CT!!!! I know the post is a few years old and if that is what they paid then it should be higher??? Just a guess, LOL! I live in Massachusetts and will commute to CT. My schedule is flexible, but primarily looking for a baylor shift if they have that anywhere in CT. Please contact me with specifics. I will be starting a LPN program at MWCC and I was wondering the same thing! I have been trying to be a nurse since 2006 with all the waiting lists, especially at that time in NY there were many. Since I decided to move to Massachusetts I have been researching LPN jobs but no luck for new grads!!!! However, I have a strong background and am very flexible. My main concern is that I want to make more money and right now my wages are decent but I still need a bump in salary. I don't want to become an LPN and stay in the same salary bracket:banghead: So I guess I would like more information on how much LPNs get paid in Massachusetts and please give specifics because I don't want to waste my time!
