  1. Well thank you for the info, that is why I was asking, but hence which classes to take, how do you know whether to take MA programs or LPN program.
  2. Here's the info you wanted: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE /MEDICAL ASSISTANT Location: St. John's Clinic / Springfield, MO Houston Clinic. Temporary Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant, full time, days, 8-5 starting 10/12/2009 ending 11/23/2009. https://www.stjohns.com/jobs/SearchResults.asp?srch=3;0;1;0;0;0;0;;31;8&ids= or www.stjohns.com/jobs And these jobs are in the hospital itself.
  3. I understand what you are saying about the MA in the hospital setting, but here in missouri they are advertising for LPN/MA in the hospital setting.
  4. donna65738 posted a topic in General Nursing
Why am I seeing so many jobs that say LPN/MA. Why are hopspitals asking for LPN's or MA's. If there is not a huge difference then how do you know how which way to go as far as education>
  5. First let me say a "GREAT THANK YOU", to all of you with your help. I am going to go in the direction of the LPN. I just have to wait till the committee meets on the 28th to see, if I get accepted into the program. I turned all my paperwork in and I got my score for the TEAS, so we wait now. I will keep you all posted. Thank you once again
  6. I fully understand, but I have no intentions of going further with school. I don't want to become an RN. I just want to make the right choice or any choice for that fact and go with it.
  7. :banghead:I have recently started in an MA program. I am toying with the idea of LPN, (I took all the tests and did everything, I'm waiting to see if I get accepted into the program). The instructors at my MA school say it's ok to be called a nurse as an MA, (I disagree). Also the instructors are telling me that they will be phasing out LPN's and just using MA's and RN's. How true might this be. And can somebody please tell me other than money what the difference is between the MA and LPN. Please outline this for me. I have this one shot at going to school and getting it done. I don't want to make the wrong choice and blow it. Pleas help!!!!
  8. Why are all the articles and papers and T.V. saying that there is such a high shortage or nurses today. Yet you hear about all these RN's and LPN's getting laid off or let go. I don't understand. I know that a good many of the Dr's offices here where I live have laid off most of the nursing staff due to the economy, but they have kept their MA's because they know the front and back office. Is now a good time to go into school for nursing or not. Can somebody shed some light on this for me. Please. Thank you
  9. I am getting much older and have enrolled in an MA program, I have just come in contact with information on an LPN school. Should I go for the gusto and do this program or stick with the MA. What are the big differences between the two jobs. What are some recommendations. I am looking for some advice and possible direction. thank you to all
