Looking for LPN school in Colorado

I am looking for a LPN program in Colorado. I heard Emily Griffith has a great program but I want to later move into RN program. I also checked in Regis What do you think?

ojc--a small school out on the praire, small campus easy to find your way around. this is a school that really cares about their students. instructors? the best. the instructors doors are always open for questions or concerns. i would highly recommend it to anyone entering the program. i have not checked the pass rate lately, but you can at the website.

sorry, still trying how to send replies and i think i got it. anyway, i wanted to know where students do clinicals? do they do any in colorado springs and pueblo? are you working? struggling if working at all? i may have to work part-time and just want to know if it is at all possible to maintain grades while working? what can i start reading right now while waiting to get in, i keep hearing about the nclex book? thanks for your patience.

Ah, yes, I received the same e-mail. I believe they mean that they will let you know that your application is complete, acceptable (that you fulfilled all required prerequisites) and that it is now ready to be reviewed. When I spoke to my advisor regarding a transcript she said to expect the decision letter late March. The admissions committee will probably spend the next 2 months going through the applications to select the students they will offer admissions.

My GPA was around 3.75. I have done some work in an Alzheimer home. I am also 35 years old. I truly feel they are looking for academically strong people but also people that have life experiences that will make them a good nurse or critical thinker. My essay illustrated my experience slightly but really went into detail about how life experiences made me the person I am today.

I got my acceptance letter to UC Denver at the end of November 2009 in the priority review and was completely shocked!! I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to working with some of you in a few months! My start date is June 2010.

I just received this email today regarding NLN accreditation so I wanted to update people on DSN's status:

"Dear Students Staff and Faculty,

The National League for Nursing Accreditation Council has announced that Denver School of Nursing has been granted 'Candidacy' status. Candidacy status allows us to proceed with our Self-study report that will be submitted to the NLN in a few months. We are scheduled to have a site survey by NLN reviewers in October of 2010. At that time, reviewers from the NLN will meet with students and faculty to determine if our program meets all of the NLN standards. We look forward to continuing to offer our students a quality education. Thanks goes to our faculty and staff for shouldering the responsibility of offering nursing education that is current, ethical, and at a very high standard."

the first semester we did our clincals in rocky ford and las animas. this semester we will having our clinicals in lajunta, pueblo and colorado springs. is about 2 hours from colorado springs. we have people from there and from denver. alot of them get a room here and go home on the weekends. could you work? well, i couldn't work, however, if you are young you might be able to. you could also consider ojc part time program, if you need to work. any other questions, let me know!!!:nurse::nurse::nurse:

Hello,I have been doing a lot of research on their accredidation. I believe that the link that you posted just means that they are members of the NLN which is different than the NLNAC as stated on that website. THIS IS FROM THE FAQ PAGECan I pay my Agency Member dues and the NLNAC annual accreditation fee in one check to the NLN? No, because: NLNAC became a seperate entity January 1, 2001 NLN and NLNAC will bill separately for membership and accreditation fees respectively This link is that the NLNAC page list of schools with candidacy. The link you had was for NLN members which is not the accredidation page.http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/candidacy.aspThis is not to say that the page is completely up to date. They may indeed have candidacy but I have been checking this website and I havent seen them on there yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed since I am applying to DSN. Hopefully it happens soon!!!-VS

thanks again for your patience and time. how long does it take to drive to rocky ford/las animas from the school site? is clinicals on saturday and sunday, and how long are the shifts? how many hours in a day do i need to study? sorry i'm asking so many questions, i don't know what to expect or what is expected of me, also i am trying to plan for daycare ahead of time so my family knows what to expect. i am going to do the part-time program and still terrified that i might have to work. i am 40 yrs old and am not as young and not sure if i will be able to work since i don't know how many hours a typical student needs to take time to study. thanks for answering all my questions, you've been a big help!:p
