Congratulations! One letter is better than none. If your wait listed at number 2, then it sounds like, you probably will be getting in with that one too. I am not in the full time program, and have chosen the non-traditional part-time. We won't be taking any classes together since I will only be taking NUR 109, for the fall semester. I already have math103, and pathophysiology. If your in the full time program, your NUR 109 class will be taken on a different day from mine. Ours is TUES/THUR nights, and clinicals every other weekend. Sounds like you got a heck of a load with 13 credits. Good luck, and let me know where u end up.

Yeah, same problem seems to be continuing. You send in something in hopes they reviewed and submitted it, but unfortunately you have to be on top of things with them. That means when you turn in transcripts, health certificates, whatever, you always, always call to see if they received it and turned it in. They get a lot of paperwork just like yours, and unfortunately, they don't have the help needed to take care of things. When I got an email, asking for first and second year nursing students to volunteer to assist with state certification check offs for CNA's I knew it was a red flag. Anyway, your grades are great, I would apply before the deadline regardless, so and keep making the calls to see if someone is not coming back. They always tell us to let them know A.S.A.P if we do not plan to attend. Work on taking your math and path as soon as u can. This will be one less class to take, and besides, you need to know the math like the back of your hand. Good luck to you! Hope to see you!

Hmmm! That's interesting! So they say the slots r full? They have always taken in whomever applied. Like when my class started last year, we started with 42. So I'm surprised they didn't take you. Did u score high enough on the placement test to get in, or did u not just apply? I would apply anyway, cause things come up, and people do drop out before it starts.(military, death, etc. Never not apply just because they say it's full. If you really want to go, apply anyway, and see what happens. That way you did all that you could. I learned to just do things to cover myself,, cause usually it worked out in my favor. Yes, small enough town from plenty of distractions. Maybe that's why that is one of the reasons why they have a good pass rate, lol. Good luck and let me know what you do. Hi Sharese, After your first year of nursing, your school will give you the option to take the nclex exams to get your LPN. Most people think Med Surge is hard, but all it is, is just a review of Pathophysiology. Some think OB-Ped's is hard, but I hear that mostly from the male nurses. Pharmacology may be hard as well, but overall, if you put your mind to it, and stay focused and study hard, your first year will be a breeze. Good luck! Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I was never an "A" student in school. I struggled in A&P and got ''C's. Could have done better but got sick. Overall, my pre-req grades were four "B"s and 2 "C"s with a G.P.A. of 2.7. This still got me into Nursing school immediately after taking my pre-req's, because this school was on a first come basis. My school has a 95% NCLEX pass rate and so far I am doing just fine, and am grateful for the opportunity that has come. I am so glad that I didn't have to rely on other local colleges in my area that have you waiting or competing with other students for a higher G.P.A, which can take years. I am getting too old for that and want to enjoy my life. I found that all the hype about having the highest G.P.A is just a bunch of crock and the schools are out for your money! I have friends who were turned away with a 4.0 G.P.A and couldn't get in for whatever reason. Also in my nursing class, we have had students who are sraight A students already fail out! The staff told us on our first day of class that if we are used to making straight A's, it will not happen in nursing school. Go figure! So explore your options and be willing to make sacrifices. The school I attend is an hour and a half away, but had I not been willing to make that drive, I would still be on the waiting list at the local colleges in my area. Best of luck to you!

Hi! I am suppose to start at OJC this fall and was wondering how are you making it when it comes to taking test? You mentioned having to pick apart the book to teach yourself, so how many hours of studying can I expect? I am soooo dreading even going this fall. Seems like the quality of nurse instructors are going down hill from what students are saying. I hope I don't have to struggle. I am a single mother and since times are tough, that is the last thing I need to be doing when it comes to learning. This makes me wonder how their pass/fail rate is for the school. Thanks for the insight, at least I know what to expect.

Sorry, to hear about your situation. I am not an A student. I got all B's and two C's both in A&P. I was sick with Bronchitis and had to drop out and retake, only to go through another bout with sickness. I got into Otero Jr college Nursing progam with my grades. The problem in Colorado is most schools have a 2-3 yr waitlist and are making it more difficult for you to get in. It is competitive when you have to deal with a waitlist. As for the A&P class, if you have the money to keep retaking then maybe you should ask students by getting referrals on different instructors. I wish you the best and hope you get in soon. thanks again for your patience and time. how long does it take to drive to rocky ford/las animas from the school site? is clinicals on saturday and sunday, and how long are the shifts? how many hours in a day do i need to study? sorry i'm asking so many questions, i don't know what to expect or what is expected of me, also i am trying to plan for daycare ahead of time so my family knows what to expect. i am going to do the part-time program and still terrified that i might have to work. i am 40 yrs old and am not as young and not sure if i will be able to work since i don't know how many hours a typical student needs to take time to study. thanks for answering all my questions, you've been a big help!

sorry, still trying how to send replies and i think i got it. anyway, i wanted to know where students do clinicals? do they do any in colorado springs and pueblo? are you working? struggling if working at all? i may have to work part-time and just want to know if it is at all possible to maintain grades while working? what can i start reading right now while waiting to get in, i keep hearing about the nclex book? thanks for your patience.

Thank you for the info. Do you have any idea how far it is from colorado springs? I hear some people are commuting, so I know it is possible. I have a 9mth old and she will be 16mth old when I start this year so that is why I signed up for the part-time. Also wondering if you work while attending? Seems impossible.
