New Nurse Graduate-ASN
Don't let people trick you by thinking you wont be able to get a job as an Associate. Yes, there are a few hospitals who want to hire only BSN's, BUT if you have that 1st year under your belt and plans to get or have already started your BSN, then you will get hired. They just wont hire new grad Associate's. My advice, if you can get a job in Florida, do so and stay for a year or so to get that all important experience, then come out here. The mountains aren't going anywhere. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. BTW, I am a new grad Associate and I got a hospital job.

No you have to choose between one or the other when you apply.

Just to let you know DSN does have accreditation for their ADN and BSN programs though they do not have NLN "certification". And I personally know a DSN graduate (within the past year) who got hired and works at Children's. I'm not sure what you mean by "anymore". As for not being hired by most hospitals, DSN grad are having the same new grad problems that everyone else is. If that were really the case, I doubt every starting quarter at DSN would be completely full.

There are areas of Denver that are not within the City of Denver. You might want to look at Glendale or Holly Hills which are both Arapahoe County, yet completely surrounded by the City of Denver.

I dont think the 2 have anything to do with each other.

NCAHLC (the link you gave) and NLNAC are 2 completely different organizations. NLN is the standard by which most programs are accredited. Hopefully, NLNAC will update the page and list DSN as a candidate.

Looking for LPN school in Colorado
DSN does not seem to be on the NLNAC's website as a candidate school (http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/candidacy.asp). I am trying to be argumentative, but NLNAC's website specifically states "Candidacy is the first step toward NLNAC Accreditation". I am not sure what bfrdncr14 means when they stated earlier in this thread "Just wanted to let everyone know we now have HLC candidacy which is the first step towards NLN candidacy." I have read through both website and their candidate process, this does not seem to be correct. They are 2 separate organizations. Perhaps I'm missing something but I think only accurate information should be posted...

Looking for LPN school in Colorado
Just curious...what's wrong with University of Phoenix? I know some MSN's who got theirs through UoP and are working some pretty good jobs. I am looking in the ADN program and planning on doing the UoP to BSN a few years after that. Just keep in mind, when and if DSN gets in the NLN process, it is a 4 year process from my understanding. Every recruiter and nurse manager in the Denver area is going to know when it does happen. So they will know whether it was accredited at the time someone graduated.

Looking for LPN school in Colorado
I haven't really had a chance to get started with the physical, drug testing etc but I know I do need to get on it. I am doing the straight RN program. On another note, I am coming from the Evans and Holly area...if anyone else is too, maybe we could carpool. Otherwise, my plan is the light rail as it will get too expensive to drive and pay for the parking downtown.
