U.S.A. Colorado

Just a hello from Colorado Springs Colorado trying to network a little. Beeen in Colorado Springs some 15 years.

Hi! I am currently going to school at Beth-El school of nursing in Colorado springs..if anyone has any questions..let me know!! :wavery:

I am considering relocating to Colorado Springs. Are there plenty of jobs in the area for new graduates? I will graduate with a BSN in December. Also, are there any facilities that offer a loan payback program?

Hi, Im worried about how I might or might not fit in with the general public in Colorado! Im thinking of relocating in Colorado, either Denver, Boulder, or Colorado Springs. Im originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but Ive been in Houston for over 7 years now. I hate the heat and humidity and am homesick for real seasons! I love the snow and all that comes with it. Only reason Im not considering Cleveland is that it seems too old fashoined for me. For example: I have a tongue and eyebrow ring, as well as 2 tattoos that seems to draw everyones attention when I visit my family in Cleveland. (btw, I do not flaunt these while working, or at all for that matter, and 98% of people I meet outside of work find my eyebrow ring "pretty" and don't even realize I have anything else out of the oridinary, so please dont assume hehe) In this day and age, I feel people should look past appearance, and that people should be allowed to express themselves however they see fit, whether its in writing, in the clothes they wear, hairstyles/colors, or in tattoos or piercings. Any opinions? :uhoh21:

Colorado is the best state in the union as far as I'm concerned. Born and raised in Chicago my husband and I relocated there for 3 years. We had to come back because nursing schools are backed up infinitlely and my husband wants to be a nurse. But we are moving back as soon as he's done. The weather is great. Every one thinks it's cold but most of the time it's in the 50's in denver. When it snows it's like powdered sugar and it usually always melts the next day. Summers are cool in the morning and night and hot during the day but it's a dry heat. No humidity is awesome! If it gets too hot just head into the mountains. The elevation will mess with your systerm for a while but you will get used to it. Denver is full of people with all different lifestyles and things to do. Check out Westword.com you will love it. The Springs is more upscale but its a nice place. Alot of military families of course. We call boulder the 'bubble' for reason one could only find out by spending some time there (don't consider moving there until you do.) Maybe it's for you maybe not. Denver has great hospitals. The teaching facilities are better to work in. Colorado is melting pot of people from all over the country who have relocated those native to the state don't like that much. Guns are legal. In fact many natives wonder why if it's called tourist season they can't shoot the tourists. (Just kidding). It really is a great place to live. Good Luck.

Hi earthangel!!

I am currently going to nursing school in Colorado Springs and have lived in Colorado all of my life. You are going to fit in just fine here in Colorado. Don't worry!!:) I do want to let you know that Colorado Springs is the most conservative town (Air Force Academy, Focus on the Family) and Boulder is the least conservative town (but very expensive to live there!!) I am from Golden, Colorado - a suburb of Denver. (Denver is about 15 or 20 minutes away) Golden is more "moderate" I guess you could say. When I am done with my school, I will be moving back to Golden. (Colorado Springs is way to conservative for me...but I got into a really good nursing school here in the Springs) A few things you may want to know about Colorado...we do have snow..but we defintaly have sunny days in the winter. It has been known to snow as late as May (although that doesn't happen very often). Also -Colorado isn't very diverse when it come to people of different ethic groups. I think that is a big draw back of Colorado. If you have any questions - I will try to answer them for you! Good luck!

I agree- Colorado Springs is very conservative compared to the rest of the state. I lived in the Denver area for years, moved to Colorado Springs for a couple years because it has cheaper housing, then ended up moving back to Denver. It was way to conservative for me.

I am relocating to Denver in about 3 weeks. I was debating between Denver, Colorado Springs, and Boulder. I agree with the Springs being too conservative, and Boulder was a little too expensive for a new grad. I just landed a job at a Centura facility, now all I have left is to find an apartment. Any suggestions on what part of Denver is best?

Hi Aimee :)

Would you please explain what you mean by the above statement? I'm confused about that being true. When I lived in Colorado four to five years ago, I found it to have a VERY diverse population of various ethnic groups! There are TONS of interracial families there! :)
