gait belt?

for the ones who doesn't know what it is (cause i didn't lol): a gait belt is a device used to transfer people from one position to another or from one thing to another.

These were supplied by the facilities that I worked at. One of them issued a gait belt to newly hired CNAs, to be turned in when employment ended, the others provided gait belts on the floor.

really? the program i'm looking into requires a gait belt the first day of class...i wonder why? did any of you use them in your program, like for practice or something?

Specializes in Med-Surg/urology.

We werent required to buy our own gait belts. When we got to the skills portion of the class we all just used the practice gait belt. The only thing we were responsible for buying was a bp cuff &stethoscope.

Now see...they never mentioned a bp cuff, just a gait belt and stethoscope.

Nope. Just had to have a stethoscope before clinicals, even though I never used it during clinicals, lol. The facility that I work at keeps gate belts in a supply drawer.

When I went to CNA training we got ours issued to us by the school. I still have mine and it has helped a lot

at our school they had like 12 gait belts that we only used in class to practice with,we had to purchase a stethescope and bp cuff though.

There is a good case to have this, along with a BP cuff and

stethescope if you are doing HH and visiting patients at different sites.

Other than that, most facilities provide all of that.
