Today, I accepted the position I was offered in Fairfield, Illinois. I also gave my verbal notice at my current job. Tomorrow, I will hand in a written notice. According to my contract, I must give 6 months notice, but there is room in the contract for negotiation. I am aiming for starting my new position around the first of April. And I can't wait.

Actually, I posted my resume on gaswork, and was first approached by a headhunter, Pennie Eggemeyer, at Locum Tenens LLC, about this position. This agency does not normally do permanent placements, but had agreed to do so at the request of Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Pennie was VERY honest and up front with me about the position, the town, and the hospital. She seems to have dealt with both sides even handedly. She gets a big pat on the back from me.

    Kevin,
Well done and well deserved. I wish you all the best in your new position and it sounds like great little town. Where (pardon my ignorance) is Fairfield located? My brother lives in Springfield, IL so jus trying to figure out where you will be. Your years of studying have paid off at long last..

    congrats Kevin.

I am in awe of the welcome you got. Is the norm to be courted like that by hospitals seeking CRNA's? I was in the staff meeting in the OR this am and the staffing shortage was the major issue of the day...can't get enough anesthestists to meet the demand. This seems to be the greatest time to be in anesthesia. What do you think?
    Thanks
