My Job Hunt

Specialties CRNA

Published

As most of you know, I have started looking for real for a new job. I am learning quite a bit as I go. If you are interested, I will post updates here, to let you know how the hunt is progressing. Hopefully, along the way, I can give you tips based on what I am learning, and perhaps steer you clear of mistakes I am making.

I have already had some VERY serious offers for positions in Illinois, Tennesee, South Carolina, Kansas, and others. I am going to an interview next weekend. If this job and salary pans out the way it is looking, my search may be over just that fast.

Kevin,

Good to hear you are getting some good offers. I have interviewed with a few so far and have not found anything of interest as of yet. If you don't mind, I would love to know who you are using as your headhunter if you are happy with their sevices.

Thanks, Lee.

I know the CRNAs start out at 100K in my area (UNC-Chapel Hill). But it sounds like your offer was much higher, around 120K before the sign-on bonus. Wow.

If I remember right, he did not use one Gowkout.

There is a post above about his search.

Today, I accepted the position I was offered in Fairfield, Illinois. I also gave my verbal notice at my current job. Tomorrow, I will hand in a written notice. According to my contract, I must give 6 months notice, but there is room in the contract for negotiation. I am aiming for starting my new position around the first of April. And I can't wait.

Actually, I posted my resume on gaswork, and was first approached by a headhunter, Pennie Eggemeyer, at Locum Tenens LLC, about this position. This agency does not normally do permanent placements, but had agreed to do so at the request of Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Pennie was VERY honest and up front with me about the position, the town, and the hospital. She seems to have dealt with both sides even handedly. She gets a big pat on the back from me.

Kevin McHugh

I stand corrected.

Thanks for your account of your job hunt.

Kevin,

Well done and well deserved. I wish you all the best in your new position and it sounds like great little town. Where (pardon my ignorance) is Fairfield located? My brother lives in Springfield, IL so jus trying to figure out where you will be. Your years of studying have paid off at long last..

Contratulations Kevin....and good luck!

Congratulations Kevin. Sounds like a great offer. Best of luck to you.
