UFV January 2015 intake _ BSN 4 year

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all!

I am planning on applying for UFV Nursing program and thought I should start a thread for everyone applying to get together and discuss any issues/concerns.

I am not a straight A student, or a straight B. In fact, most of my marks consist of B's and C+'s unfortunately, but I still plan on applying after speaking to a counsellor at UFV.

I have well over 150 hours of volunteering in two different hospitals and old-folk homes. I've volunteered at Children's Hospital for 8 months and RCH for the past year and a half (I love it!-- consider volunteering there, I've currently taken it upon myself to explore the hospital and all it has to offer. The opportunities for learning are endless and the staff is pretty wonderful). The old-folks home was with the Salvation Army, also a great place.

I have most everything they ask for & more, but lack the straight A's that people in previous threads say they have applied with. Like anyone else in my position, the grades worry me. For some schools (ex, BCIT or UofC) , they only look at the last 30 credits for a GPA count. Does anyone know the process at UFV?

I've applied at BCIT a couple of times and plan on doing so again, but thought I should broaden my horizon. BCIT has a fairly different system than UFV and it has been my target school for the past 1.5 years.

Please share your own thoughts & concerns! :-) Let's build up our support system.

Have you guys set up your interviews yet? I heard they started today..

Mine is on Friday, Oct 24. Lots of time to think....lol

How was the info session?! Packed full??

(Don't mention the essay - haven't written mine yet) :writing:

The info session was pretty full! My interview is on the 15th.

I finished my interview today! It's really relieving to have it done. My interviewer was very nice and she said I did well, but I feel like I could've done better. And again, she could've said it to make me feel better. It lasted about 30-35 minutes.

Good luck to you all!

Anyone hear anything yet as far as acceptance?

My interviewer mentioned that the letters will be sent out for November 14th. So you should hear in or around then :)

oh I thought it was earlier than that haha. Thanks though :)

The last interviews just finished on Thursday, last week. So I'm guessing its going to take a while before we hear.

Yeah I was told that we would hear on the 14th at the very latest so I'm hoping earlier! Doubtful though.

How'd your interviews go?

Hey everyone, I had applied for the Sept 2014 intake and made it to the interview. We were all told that we'd find out a lot later than when we actually did.

Woah not sure my whole msg was posted properly. We found out a week and a half earlier than we had anticipated. Hope that's the case for all of you too!
