California's 2009 New Grad RN Program- Who's hiring right now?

U.S.A. California

Published

Greetings.

This is my story- I graduated from Nursing School in May 2008 (ADN) and passed my boards in October 2008.

I live north of San Fran and have yet to find a New Grad Program. I've been on Allnurses since last summer when I started studying to pass the boards. I used Allnurses especially the "random facts" thread which helped me pass the boards with flying colors. My family is ready to move out of the area because there is no new grad program avail out here.

I have spent hours online looking for New Grad positions in Washington State, Southern Ca, New Mexico, and Ashville NC. These are the areas, along with the Bay Area that I am interested in. I am looking to see if someone would like to buddy up or we can all help continue this thread and we can help search together for all the possible positions in the areas mentioned above or just in California. I have found that the work done alone is not enough or that I have just missed an application date, or I didn't know that blank blank just hired for the season.

The random facts thread was so hot because it was encompassing info about one main event with up to the minute info. Maybe a thread like "California's 2009 New Grad RN Program- Who's hiring right now?"- and it would include SNF's and whatever we can think of that a new nurse can do in the community, would be like the "random facts" thread. I'm sure I will hear from an Allnurses thread monitor about if this is OK or not.

At this point I am just trying to be creative and use the best resource online, which to me has been this sight.

I hope to hear from you soon.

hi there! very nice of you to post all that.

also, are all these hospitals accept only online applications? I know i always go to career tabs and search for a position and from there i submit applications but im wondering is there anything else that i havent done for application? i just dont know why it seem to be quite hard to land an entry level RN position

Godbless

i checked the childrens hospital in LA, i called them and the HR told me that theres no application YET.

hi there! very nice of you to post all that..

I go through the whole list on Monday/Tuesday, then the rest of the week, I'll check my short list.

I'd recommend checking hospitals that don't have an actual new grad program. I've read the descriptions and seem like they will hire new grads but I didn't put it on the list. I'd call the nurse recruiter and ask. I'll be calling a couple of them for myself if I can wake up before 5pm :bugeyes:

thank you so much.

are you a new grad applicant as well?

anybody here applied at sharps new grad residency prog? did you made a portfolio? i just wanted to ask something about it, heres the copy of the requirements

application process (required)

to apply for a new grad program, you must submit a new grad rn portfolio. the portfolio requires the following information:

  1. submit your application. - what application? is there a form of some kind? if there is where can i get it

  1. submit your résumé. please include clinical placements and hours, as well as work/volunteer information.

  1. submit a cover letter.

  1. complete the supplemental information form. - what supplemental info you added? and how you made it

  1. provide two clinical letters of references from your preceptors, instructors or clinical facilitators. you should also provide one professional/volunteer letter of reference (if applicable). - is this simply references that you added with the resume? what clinical letters?

  1. provide a copy of your most recent unofficial transcript (does not require official seal).

there you go..hope my questions will be answered. i would like to submit a portfolio of application to their feb 2010 grad program.

tnx!

Thanks, starzburst!

Regarding the Lucile Packard postings...they mention an online supplemental form but I don't see it. I remember the last round they posted it and it was a series of questions...HR has gone straight to voicemail all day. Any idea?

Thanks!

On September 28 at 9am, they will post their New Grad position. That's where you will fill out their application. Then you will send in the required documents to them, which are:

* Online application

* Resume

* Cover letter

* Supplemental Information Form (available on the New Grads page on Sept. 28)

* Two letters of recommendation

* Unofficial transcripts

Looks like LP took down their postings. They have a confusing website.. I think they have another site with information. Found it http://westandforcare.com/careers_new_graduate_application_process.cfm but no Supplemental form.
