2010 - UCSF / Stanford RN Residency Interview?

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey,

I applied for RN residencies at both UCSF and Stanford during the week of May 10th, 2010. I wanted to hear from anyone who has applied to either program AND has been contacted by a recruiter. Or from anyone who knows for certain (i.e., you work there) when theses decisions will be made. I am a fairly strong candidate and would like to believe I am in the running for a position--but who knows really? I will post if and when I hear anything.

Best of luck.

hi everyone,

i applied to the LPCH rn new residency program on 5/23- however the deadline has been extended time and time again, with the deadline now being 6/4. i'm not exactly sure why they would keep extending the deadline- is it because they don't like the applicant pool? the applicant pool isn't large enough? i just don't understand.

anywho, i've been reading posts from applicants saying they've gotten preliminary calls or status changes- but is that only for Stanford Applicants? What about those who have just applied for LPCH? Is there anyone out there like me whose status still says, "Application Received"?

i graduated in dec 09 and i never imagined that this job hunt would last this long. i'm really hoping this is it.

any info would be great! thanks :)

I too graduated in December 2009. I applied to both LPCH and Stanford Hospital and had my preliminary phone interview a week and a half ago. It seemed as though the phone interview was conducted for my Stanford app but apparently my responses to those questions also go to LPCH. I was also told the deadline was extended due to technical difficulties. I doubt it was because they weren't satisfied with their applicant pool; they had several hundred applicants as of a week ago.

Also, my application status changed from "unknown" to "In Process" today, though the status date still says 5/25...strange. Maybe that is part of the technical difficulties they are referring to.

Thanks for your response.

Technical difficulties?! Ahhh- what if my application didn't get accepted properly?! Now i'm freaking out! =/ Hmmm..well I'm wondering if maybe they've only started to conduct Stanford preliminary phone calls & for the people who applied to LPH just go trickled over?

*sigh* i'll contact them tomorrow to double check my app got properly accepted into the system..thanks for the info!

any other people who applied to just LPCH and received a phone call?

I think the technical difficulties they were referring to was the fact that half way through the application window, they changed their written requirements regarding the letters of recommendation. They changed it to specifically say "school of nursing faculty only" (no preceptors, etc). They then had to prolong the application window to allow for people to get new letters of ref because they did not make their instructions clear enough.

I applied to just LPCH and had my preliminary phone interview, but haven't heard anything since then. My application status still says "Application in Review."

The nurse recruiter told me that we'd hear something this week, but so far, no news. Keep your hopes up!

AHHHHH- i DID NOT know that was the reason why they extended the deadline!! what if i already submitted it?! do i withdraw my application and request a new one?! OMG- i cannot believe this!! i'm seriously freaking out right now.

i've read in some forums, that they call you to tell you your app isn't complete..but in my case- where i submitted it 2 weeks ago, i haven't heard anything?! do you think it's okay because i'm the OLD batch of applicants PRIOR to them changing it?! they should have sent out a letter or notification! geez.

any advice? damn..this could be all bad right about now..HELP!

I believe the technical difficulties were that for some people, when uploading all of the attachments, the system would time out, then when it came back on, it said the application was submitted. Thus, not all of the attachments got uploaded. You would know if this happened to you. They said that this was happening to a lot of people. Do not withdraw your app because it says that you cannot resubmit for the a job once you withdraw your application.

mac1234-

thanks so much for your input, i'm still stressing though. so do you think that IF they wanted me to resubmit, they would have contacted me? i just don't understand how they can change their application requirements & not notify people that already submitted their applications.

i'm just saying that it is HIGHLY unlikely that people submit applications and then GO BACK to read the NEW requirements, don't you think?! this is quite frustrating. i'm gonna call HR tomorrow and see the status on my app and haul ass if i have to get it on official letterhead..eeks!

westmidwest- i cannot see your reply =/ it just says "...."

Faith... I was equally freaking out. A friend of mine told me that they had changed it and i thought, "well, i already submitted my app, what am I supposed to do?" Well, Stanford HR called me last week to tell me that I need to submit new letters of rec, so then I had to scramble to get another letter from a school faculty member. But if you didn't get a call, they obviously aren't calling everyone, so I have no idea what that means or if you need to submit it or not.

I would call HR today and try to get a hold of someone (good luck with that, cuz I can rarely get through). If they never notified you, cross your fingers and hope for the best?

hi everyone,

FYI- i applied to only LPCH and got a phone interview on 5/25 and my status went from "unknown" to "selected for interview" a day later. Does anyone else have the same status as me?

Has anybody gotten an interview at UCSF? I got an email asking me to come in for a panel interview? I am happy i got an interview, but nervous b/c it's intimidating. I do not know what to expect. Does anybody know what types of questions they ask (patient scenarios, personality q's) etc. Thanks!
