2010 - UCSF / Stanford RN Residency Interview?

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey,

I applied for RN residencies at both UCSF and Stanford during the week of May 10th, 2010. I wanted to hear from anyone who has applied to either program AND has been contacted by a recruiter. Or from anyone who knows for certain (i.e., you work there) when theses decisions will be made. I am a fairly strong candidate and would like to believe I am in the running for a position--but who knows really? I will post if and when I hear anything.

Best of luck.

pretty sure i didn't get it. good luck tho. I'm rooting for you! applied anywhere else?

I was very blessed today. I was offered a position in the PICU today. I declined it and took a position in another unit :) Words can't explain how happy I am.

All the Best to you!

Wow! What unit? And they told you, you weren't accepted into the program....

Hi all, Congratulations to those of you who were accepted into the various residency programs that have been discussed throughout this thread!!

I'll be graduating from nursing school in May of 2011. Could anyone out there tell me how they found out about the RN residency programs at UCSF? I've been looking around their website, but I don't see any information. I'd like to contact the nurse recruiter about this and any shadowing opportunities (did anyone do this at UCSF or other Bay area hospitals?), but I do not see contact information for him/her. I do see Nursing Administration Office general contact information. Is that where you started?

Thanks!

When you log into their system you can set up a notification agent that sends search results to your email based on whatever criteria you choose. I've never heard of a hospital allowing "shadowing" unless it was part of a clinical experience thru school. Good luck with that tho.

Thanks, Testa Rosa!

HI is it really hard to get a job offer from UCSF in their ER dept? Also, can you transfer from UC San Diego Med Center or for example UC Irvine, or UC Davis to the ER at the Medical Center? Please let me know?

Hi everyone. Has anyone been through the Stanford Panel interview? What is it like? I have my panel interview next week and I have no idea what to expect. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how to prepare for the interview? Are there more clinical scenarios questions vs behavioral questions? This is my first panel interview and I just want to be prepared. Thanks!

Hi!

For those who were hired at UCSF, can you also give me some interview tips/suggestions?

Thank you!!

Hello! I just got a call yesterday that I have an interview at UCSF in perinatal services. Does anyone know what the UCSF interviews are like? What kinds of questions? Any and all info would be great!! Thanky you!

^ I agree. Right now many of the new grad programs are requiring that you have at least a BSN to be eligible for the program. I have a feeling as things start to turn around and new grads are hired more and more, that those restrictions will loosen up again. Although, there are some hospitals that are phasing out the hiring of ADN nurses, but i don't know how long that will last...

This is a really old post, but I think that the reason some hospitals aren't hiring ADNs as much anymore (or at least ADNs who don't have a plan in place to obtain their BSN) has to do with Magnet Hospital requirements.
