white shoes

I'm starting the weekend cohort at GCC this July. For the "white shoes," do they specifically have to be nursing shoes, or will white sneakers do?

all white sneakers work, but they really must be all white. they're pretty strict on this- no markings in any color on them (including black or gray), and white soles also. they also require them to be all leather/fake leather if you do sneakers, can't have porous material over your feet.

I attend SCC and white sneakers were acceptable as long as they were totally white. As you progress to higher Blocks, your instructors may become more relaxed about the "totally white."

You may find nursing shoes more comfortable.

Best of luck to you in your schooling!

My answer to the title of this is...

White shoes are the devil's work. LOL!!! I seriously can't stand them and can't wait to graduate and get a colored pair. Try on all sorts of shoes...I probably spent $220 on two different pair of nursing shoes before I settled on a pair of all white K Swiss that are leather. Those have been my feet's BFF. I'll wear the other ones for the days I am on campus, but I will NEVER torture my feet with them again at clinical. However, some of my classmates SWEAR by them.

Good luck!

Thanks! I know, I see the nursing shoes, and I hate to spend the money on them if they aren't comfy. I did see the KSwiss on several sites that sell nursing shoes, and they seem pretty reasonable. I think I'll go with those.

Okay so I bought my shoes a little while ago and now I'm wondering if they're going to be alright. They are all leather, but they have black soles :uhoh3: ... since someone metioned that you can not have black soles, I'm a bit concerned. Hmm... will it be alright????

i would take them back, we are not allowed black soles. i'm sure this varies by campus and instructor, but you will have different instructors and clinical instructors each block, with varying opinions of how strict the dress code is. i'd save the hassle and buy all white. i've had classmates sent home for a small touch of color on a shoe, it's considered not being "in uniform", and that counted as their one absence for the semester.

I was looking at a pair on the internet called seneca. They looked like they would be okay, but they have some black on the bottom of the sole. I have to buy them online, but I want to make sure that they would be okay..... what are your opinions on this?? You wouldn't be able to see it unless I was walking.

i'd call the nursing office at whichever school you are going to and ask, like i mentioned above every school will be a bit different.

I end up just buying a classic pair of K-Swiss shoes. They are COMPLETELY white!!!!! I'd rather be safe than sorry. ;)

are they comfy?

From what I've felt in them, yes!! :) I have yet to spend any length of time in them, but that will come once I actually start nursing school in August; so far so good! The only thing is that I think they make my feet look big, lol. However, I'm a thin person and just about any tennis shoe makes my feet look big haha!!!
