    GCC Fall Weekend-Schedule is posted

The schedule for the GCC Weekend program that starts this July is up. If I log into my.maricopa.edu, it shows I am not enrolled in any classes, but if I go to "my class schedule," class times are there, including dates and locations for clinicals.

Rio Salado, is it really that bad?

Everyone learns differently. I would suggest starting with one class to see if it's for you. And then go from there. Good luck!

anyone leave high paying 1st career?

I'm 42 and starting a weekend program this July at the community college. I've been working on this for 4 years. Previously, I was a sales manager for a very large, corporately owned television station...and very well paid. But, I got so tired of being a slave to the inanimate corporate entitity....I had very little personal satifsfaction. So I left, had 2 kids who are now 2 and 4 and I work part time for a company that hires independent contractors to work from home. We cut all our expenses as much as we could...1)no car payment, I paid cash instead for some basic transportation, 2)the most basic tv package (and that's about to go, too) 3) no more $75 haircuts, now I go to Great Clips, and I bought clippers to do the boys myself 4) no more eating out....etc etc.... Yes, it's a sacrifice, but in the end, it will be worth it. There are several companies that hire people to work from home...the one I picked is very flexible, I work in 1/2 hour increments, and I work when the kids are sleeping at nite and napping during the day. I make around $15--17/hour...I know that's not a ton of money, but I don't have to get dressed, pack my lunch, pay for gas, waste time commuting and I don't have to pay daycare. PM me if you want more info on the company. Good luck!

    $130 tote bag for class

Thank you fromthesea...I appreciate the info. Also, can you tell me approximately how many hours per week you study, not including class and clinicals. I'm trying to work out my work and childcare and that info would be very helpful. Thanks again!

    $130 tote bag for class

I was told today that I won't qualify for grants, but loans only. I was also told to search search search for scholarships. My advisor told me that she is on the committee for one that awards $1500!

    GCC Weekend Program

Thank you again. I think the best for me would be to find a place close to my house, and plan on 1/2 day Thursday, and all day Fri and Sat. Thanks again!

    GCC Weekend Program

Thank you for all the info. I am trying to work out my childcare. So is lecture always on Friday and clinicals always on Saturday's? Is there ever clinicals on Friday? Also, how involved is the process to pick the patient on Thursday for the clinical? Thanks again!

    $130 tote bag for class

I don't have my schedule yet. They told me it would be a few days after they received my form, which I faxed last week. So, any day now. I'm dying to get it, too, because i need to figure out my childcare....another expense. I still have to get my financial aid worked out. I received a notice that I don't qualify for anything because I have a bachelor's degree, unless I fill out 3 forms to appeal.

    $130 tote bag for class

Our list estimates between $1500-$2000 for block 1. We received the flyer for the book bundle, that is $770. I don't know if they are including the cost of the physical/bloodwork/immunizations in their estimate, but that will run appx $500 or so. Plus the CPR class, scrubs, shoes, stethescope, and oh, yeah, tuition of $760.

    GCC weekend clinical schedule

I know classes are for the most part all day Friday and Saturday. When the clinicals start, are they also Friday and Saturday? Also, how involved is picking out the patient on Thursday? Do I need to plan all day or is it just a few minutes? I'm trying to figure out my childcare situation.

    $130 tote bag for class

I am reviewing the list of program cost, and there is a Nursing Tote Bag for $130. Is this a special kind of tote bag or will any bag do?
