  1. I am also a new grad and frustrated with the lack of positions for new grads. I have been considering home health for a while, but am nervous about being in a situation where I need help and am by myself. Would you mind sharing what your experience was like in home care, and which companies offer the best training/support? Thank you.

I am getting ready to finish up Block 2 and have the opportunity to take the LPN class to be able to get licensed. I plan on continuing with Blocks 3 & 4 to become and RN, but I was wondering if it would be worth it to get my LPN? Are there jobs for right now for new bilingual LPN's in the Phoenix area? Thanks!
  3. It's very difficult, but it is doable. I took the full length course and it consumed A LOT of time. There is a lot of information to digest, and you are basically on your own. In my opinion, the labs are useless, but a few of the questions on the exam are directly related to the lab. I thought it was the hardest class I have ever taken, and I already have a 4 year degree from a major university. However, ask yourself what is your reason for taking the class? Are you a type A person who NEEDS to get an A? Do you really really really want to learn the material? Or do you just want to crank out the class as a prereq and just need to pass? Good luck!
  4. Got the Bachelor's degree from the Big Prestigous University at 22....worked in Big Corporate for years.....and felt.....well.......empty. So, had baby #1 at 38, started prereq's......ooops.....baby #2 at 40, HUGE blessing, but a minor setback timewise, and am taking my final exam for Block 1 this Saturday, 1 day before my 43rd birthday. And I am so looking forward to my new life. :)
  5. ah, yes.........and then there is the personal application paragraph.........LOL!
  6. I did Bio 201 in person, then 202 & 205 online. I would not recommend the online classes unless you absolutely have to. Or, if you don't care you get a C. You do all the learning on your own and there is very little, if any interaction with the instructor. It's all via email. For me, both of these were very difficult, with 205 being the hardest.
  7. I drove by Arizona Heart Hospital yesterday on the freeway, and there was a big banner hanging on the building that said "Now Hiring!" I don't know if they are hiring new grads, but it's worth a shot. Good luck!
  8. wow, I thought nurses were supposed to be caring. take care of your daddy and then when you're ready, go look for another job.
  9. I have done Bio 202 and currently have 3 weeks left for Bio 205, both through Rio. My experience has been that yes, you have to know all the AYL questions, plus the essays. You want to be able to answer both the essays that you turned in, plus the ones you didn't. And don't forget the personal application, if you are required to add one. Also, I found that there are questions that came from the labs, so know those, too. Good luck!
  10. I had the same issue, but I took a CLEP test for Biology, and was allowed to use that instead.
  11. LOL! I feel the same way. I'm scrambling to finish it asap...I start the weekend program at GCC this month!
  12. Oh, thank you! I did Bio 202 online in 8 weeks, so I figured, ok,if I can do that, I can do Micro in 14 weeks. I was hoping for an A, at this point I'll be happy with a C.
  13. I did A&P 1 in person, got an A. A&P 2 at Rio, got a B......I have a bachelor's degree already...so I'm not an idiot by any means. But now I am taking Bio 205 at Rio...I'm in week 5 and I have to tell you, I am completely overwhelmed! We are currently in the chapter about cellular metabolism. The materials do say this is the most difficult chapter of the class...please tell me it's gets easier from here!
  14. Thank you!
  15. I called the bookstore and they said there are 3 cds that make up the lab kit. I ordered them and they should be here in a couple of days. It's $10 for the cds and 5.95 for the shipping. I'm in week 4...so far, it's pretty boring.
