  1. @orangesky24- Orientation went well!!! I think most of us (including myself) walked out feeling more overwelmed then when we came in, lol . Now I'm just excited to get started!!
  2. Haven't actually met anyone, but orientation is this week ... and this will be a first career for me!
  3. I wish that I didn't have to take BIO 205 online (it's one of those weird courses that you need to "be there" to get it.) But I did, and I thought that I could tackle it in 8 weeks; Uh ya, I end up passing with a high C, and to be honest I'm not even that upset over the C. I worked hard for it LOL!!!
  4. It does get easier! :) That for me was by far the worst chapter.... EVER.... in my biology-class history!!! I took the eight-week BIO 205 course and it was horrible, but I passed the class and that's all that matters. Hang in there and good luck! :)
  5. Hi my name is Kayleigh and I will be starting nursing school this August at GCC. I've wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember and it has FINALLY hit me that this goal of mine is becoming a reality!!! Although I'm very excited, my excitment is bundled with nerves and anxiety. Unfortunately, I do not live in the Phoenix area at all, so I'll be commuting to school (not so fun )
  6. Although this is a hard thing to come to reality with, you are not going to be able to memorize everything! Learn what you can and remember... all you have to do is pass :) I'm sure you are going to survive!!!!... Don't worry, and BREATHE!!!!:)
  7. Oh yes, the joys of information overload!!! I myself am also a very visual learner... when I took A&P 1, I had to teach myself to study in a whole new way! I know you have a lot of information to study in a short amount of time, but DO NOT try to cram it all in, and try not to approach it with the thought "I have to memorize it all." This will only put undue stress on you, and in the end you won't end up absorbing anything. What helped me was to begin by reading through the gobs of information as if it were a book (and forcing myself to find interest in the 'blah' subjects lol.) After completely (and calmly) reading through, I'd break the information down into groups and reheorifice the material as if I were teaching it to someone myself. It sounds dumb but it was like I was role-playing as a professor in my head lol. And yes, if you try to write out flashcards for all the material you'll be left with no time to study them. Instead, try making a list when going through the information on terms and concept that are are big struggle and then make flashcards from there. I know that all this information may be something that you may already know and may be completely useless, all I can say is... hang in there :) Fortunately, I found A&P 2 to be A LOT easier, many of the main concepts that were difficult in A&P 1 were reinforced (actually, most of the information in A&P 2 was reinforced!) Good luck to you!!!
  8. From what I've felt in them, yes!! :) I have yet to spend any length of time in them, but that will come once I actually start nursing school in August; so far so good! The only thing is that I think they make my feet look big, lol. However, I'm a thin person and just about any tennis shoe makes my feet look big haha!!!
  9. I end up just buying a classic pair of K-Swiss shoes. They are COMPLETELY white!!!!! I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  10. Okay so I bought my shoes a little while ago and now I'm wondering if they're going to be alright. They are all leather, but they have black soles ... since someone metioned that you can not have black soles, I'm a bit concerned. Hmm... will it be alright????
  11. Hi! I'm currently taking BIO 205 as an 8-week class through RS. Yes, the 8-week science classes require unreal amounts of study time and consume a lot of your time, but it is very achievable (especially if you are strong in science.) I think you can do it! As for Rio Salado classes in general, they are great if you do not mind taking an online course. I've taken MANY classes through RS and all of them have worked out fine and have been perfect for someone like me who has a hectic schedule. Personally, I enjoy and learn much better in a classroom environment, however, having to go to a class is not always convenient for me. Online classes do require good organizational skills and time management, and sometimes the instructors aren't always the greatest. I've had it all, from the instructors who NEVER respond to anything to the instructors who are awesome and go above and beyond in order to help you through the course. Taking a class through RS is dependant on you and how you learn and unfortunately can also depend on your instuctor. Well, best of luck to everyone and their future courses, hope it all works out!!!!
  12. Well that's nice *sarcastically speaking* Anyway, I'm excited to begin
  13. Well I just checked and it seems it changed. Now I have lab and lecture on Tuesday and Thursday... It figures... You work your work schedule around things and they change it! I initially thought it was four days a week too, but it shows up as three???? Hmmm... Well, maybe they'll change things AGAIN lol :)
  14. Thanks for the feedback, I think I'm going to test out the stethoscope I have and see if it will do the job! Hey, not buying another one is one less expense that I need to make!!!! :)
