Hospital Reputations in Phoenix

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

I am curious to hear from other nurses on what hospitals have great images and possibly what hospitals need to a reputation overhaul!

Thanks

Does anyone know anything about pediatrics at Banner Thunderbird? I'm in the online RN refresher program through MCC, and I need to find a place to do my preceptorship clinical next semester. Thanks.

I'm in Florence, so about a half hour away. Where are you at?

LOL! I live in Tucson, but I used to live in Florence (many, many years ago). I suspected that you might live either there or in Coolidge if you know Sacaton.

Did you go to school at CAC?

I don't think Thunderbird even has a pediatrics unit. I could be wrong though. I have done some clinicals there in the past and I never noticed a peds dept there.

I've been only in "Renal care group" in Chandler

And I like it.

Sadly, Renal Care Group was bought by FMC and doesn't exist anymore.

I will be starting at Banner Baywood Heart in January. After things I've read I hope I'm not making a mistake. Any feedback??

Don't know what their Heart Hospital division is like, but I can concur with a previous poster that Banner Baywood is in pretty bad shape. Their turnover is crazy, they lost a bunch when the Gilbert hospital opened and are anticipating another mass exodus when the new hospital in E. Mesa on Southern/Crismon? (forget the exact location and name) opens this Spring.

I've done all of my clinicals at Banner T-bird and really love it. They do have a peds unit, but I haven't been to that yet, we do our peds rotation at Hacienda. Almost all of the people I've met at BTB have been really great, but again it depends on what floor you work on etc.

I don't see any comments on Paradise Valley Hospital. I've never been a patient or employee, but everyone I've ever mentioned them to, says, "Just let die where I am...don't take me there." Is it really that bad?

I had two of my children there and wasn't exactly thrilled with the hospital. My anesthesiologist never showed up so my OB came in and asked how my epidural was doing, I told her I don't know, I never got one. She said that's funny, he's standing in the hallway talking to the nurses. So by the time he finally meandered in (it had been over 2 hours since I requested one and he had a 30 minute response time required) and took his sweet ol' time briefing me on epidurals (it was my third child!!) and finally GAVE me the epidural, I was fully dilated!! Gee thanks a lot.

I had a cold and ended up losing my voice while in the hospital and trying to get my pain meds was an act in itself. The nurses acted like I was putting them out by asking for pain meds once or twice during the day. :deadhorse

Soooo....I've never worked there, but as a patient....I'd never go back.

Just my :twocents: Keli

They have been undergoing a recent expansion. That's about all the positives I can offer.

My brief encounter as a student with a LTC clinical patient being transferred there wasn't good. The LTC facility nurse told me they transferred her to a different hospital as PV Hospital almost killed her. A few years back I did my BLS training there and the RN running the BLS program scheduling was a real piece of work.

It's always dangerous to draw conclusions from limited information so keep in mind that your results may vary.

Well, I am here to say that a patient's opinion of a hospital can greatly differ from a nurse's opinion of what it is like to work there. Just b/c a hospital has a high pt satisfaction rate does not mean it has a high employee satisfaction rate.

Just a thought..

Yup :) How'd you guess?
