HI Everyone
I'm just curious about the pay rate for LPN and RN in Alabama(Mobile area) for New Grad?
Do you know can LPN do IVs or that get a job in the L&D wing?
Thanks for any info.

Here in Central AL, the going rate for a RN(new grad) is $12.50 plus 2.00/night and .50 ACLS. Not very good rate IMO. I heard FL pay isn't bad at all.

Ugh! Where in Central AL is pay that bad?? We were looking at going back "home" but not for that sort of pay!
Montgomery is where I live. Now mind you it is new grad. I am not sure if it is different for experienced RN's, I am sure it is. Most of my friends who just graduated are working nights just to make the $2.00 more. It really is pittiful. Thats why I will be moving after getting a year experience under my belt.
That really is bad pay--especially in Montgomery. You'd think they could do much better than that. We lived there for several years, but it was quite a while back. I graduated from Huntingdon College!

For a new grad RN, the pay stinks in Al. That is why sooo many get the degree and move on. The hospitals and LTC fac. just don't get it. But, on the good side, move out ofthe area, get some good experience, then come back. Will have something to bargin with.

The pay in Montomgery is pathetic. When my husband started working as a RN in Montgomery in 2000 (his first RN job) he started at $12.50 plus shift diff.

i didn't realize starting pay for rns was that low in the capitol city! here in birmingham, some places start lpns with that and more an hour.
i don't know but taking the higher pay instead of benefits would seem better.
I have actually been considering driving to Bham to work. I heard that one of the hospitals start out at $21 plus $3 diff.

I work in a OB/GYN office in Lower Alabama as a LPN and make 13.00/hr which is pretty good for this area. I know the hospitals here will let LPN's do IV's as far as L&D they mostly wants RN's but do let the LPN's work in the newborn nursery.:roll
allaboutkids, welcome!
