Ideas about travel nursing or New Orleans area?

  1. Hello I'm a Canadian who has quite a few years of RN experience. Can anyone recommend an excellent travel nursing agency? I'm also interested in the New Orleans area and have done some searching on the internet to find hospitals and agencies. Who would I contact to arrange Louisiana registration? I appreciate any ideas from members on this excellent BB. Thanks!

You might want to post this on the travel nurses forum, not just agency nurses.

I lived in New Orleans for several years. Oschner is a great facility. Well, there are several nice hospitals. I would not pick one of the ones downtown in the central business district(Charity,LSU or Tulane). You would get great experience there, but parking or public transportation is no fun. Feel free to email me if you have other questions about the city.
    Good luck

Thanks Tinkertots for the information, I'll check out what I can about Oschner. I appreciate any information about its location, about the cost of living in the New Orleans area.

Look them up on the web. Michelle Logan will take care of you. She is wonderful. I won't get a referral bonus but tell her even if you call that susan longenecker says hello. She is kind.

SeptSue, I am based in California and when i went
east to North Carolina I used Medistaff, Inc.. They treated
me very well and gave me terrific housing and benefits.
I believe they staff nation wide, so if you want to go to New Orleans, check them out. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I would also check out Travelcare Unlimited, as that is the agency I have been with for two years! My recruiter is Hope Carter. They are excellent advocates for nurses, and you can pick your own housing...which most other agencies don't allow!

Also Richards Healthcare, they have a recruiter who is very familiar with helping Canadians nurses. Her name is Beth Price, and is a GREAT...WONDERFUL and CARING FRIEND! Richards pays for private housing and utilities. Beth and Hope will make sure you get top dollar, and both pay more then most agencies! Both always return phone calls in a timely manner! Good Luck with whomever you chose.

You're welcome SeptSue, and here are a couple of numbers...as I don't think Beth's number is listed on the website

Richards 1-866-889-2866 Ask for Beth Price
Travelcare Unlimited 1 800 284 -0429 Ask for Hope Carter

    Good Luck

Also check out this website for travel nursing info. Travel nuses from across the country, and from elsewhere post here. And recruiters too. Both Beth and Hope and many others great agencies post and answer questions here. http://forums.delphiforums.com/travelnurses/start
