Quickest Way for Getting Things Done and Licensed in US

As most of you know, I have been recommending initial licensure in NY for quite some time. And for those of you that did not heed the warning, you now know why.

New York is three easy applications only, next you take the NCLEX exam, then you get a hard license and can endorse to almost any state afterwards. Because of the requirements of the Special Credentials Verification for New York, you do not have to do any of the running around to obtain your documents. CGFNS will obtain them for you....after you sign the release and send them the money.

NY also requires two short classes that can be done on-line, one on Child Abuse, and the other on Infection. Both are available for about $15 each and take only one hour or so.

NY BON application can be found at http://www.op.nyed.gov. You only need to submit "Form 1."

The Special Credentials Verification can be found at http://www.CGFNS.org, as well as the Visa Screen Application.

Once you have received documentation from NY that your credentials have been received and approved, submit payment to Pearson-Vue for the NCLEX exam. http://www.perasonvue.com. They are the ones that will actually send you the ATT letter, upon approval of the Board of Nursing. Be aware that this ATT (authorization to test) is only good for ninety (90) days. You will have onlt that amount of time to get the exam done in, otherwise you will lose your payment and have to start again.

Hope that this helps................ :balloons:

Most importantly, NY will issue you the license without a Social Security Number.

Specializes in Nephro, ICU, LTC and counting.
when you say pm, what do you mean exactly because this is a delecate matter and i need strict privacy.

pm means private message. it is private. you just click on suzanne's name and it will show option to send private message. this can not be read by anybody other than her because that will directly go to her inbox.

when you say pm, what do you mean exactly because this is a delecate matter and i need strict privacy.

In the upper right hnad corner, right below where it states "Welcome_______, it states when you signed on last, and then says "Private Message"---it is just like sending an e-mail. Can't do any better than that.

Specializes in Oncology, Diabetes.

Hi,

I just read your posting about NY. You wrote that NY ist the quickest way, unless you want to work ....

We will be moving to Wisconsin sooner or later ( I guess we will see when the military is ready to let us move... ) and I am a german nurse, still not sure which way to choose to get my license in the US. We have at least two years untill we will move, hopefully to WI. To work in Wisconsin, would you happen to know if they would endorse a NY license for a foreign educated nurse? I checked the homepage from WI BON and I am still not sure. If they require the CGFNS, I might as well go for that.

Thanks again,

Johanna

I just looked at WI website, and you will need a form filled out by your school and sent to them, otherwise they will endorse your license without any issue. They do not require the CES or the CGFNS exam.

You do not need a license in your country to work in NY. Follow the sitckiy that I have at the top of the page for working in the US, it is everything that you need to do for NY.

Suppose you've gone through all the cgfns papers/nclex and english exams by yourself out of US(without the help of agency & never want to get the help of an agency), how do you find an employer in US especially if you're a new graduate?

You need to contact hospitals directly.

As Suzanne said, contact the hospitals directly. In my experience, recruiters are often impressed that you have done all of the work yourself, without the help of an agency.

If you have been in and out of US while your visa screen is being processed, will there be any possibility that your immigrant visa will be denied when applied in your home country since the embassy will know it and as far as I am concerned, when you go to US on a tourist visa, you should not have other intentions like wanting to be employed.

Hello, sorry, but it seems that I have forgot something (important) I have applied and submit forms for CVS-NY, but havent send the Application for licensure for New York State yet, should I send it right now or can I wait CGFNS to accept my CVS?

is there any other form I have to send?
