As most of you know, I have been recommending initial licensure in NY for quite some time. And for those of you that did not heed the warning, you now know why.
New York is three easy applications only, next you take the NCLEX exam, then you get a hard license and can endorse to almost any state afterwards. Because of the requirements of the Special Credentials Verification for New York, you do not have to do any of the running around to obtain your documents. CGFNS will obtain them for you....after you sign the release and send them the money.
NY also requires two short classes that can be done on-line, one on Child Abuse, and the other on Infection. Both are available for about $15 each and take only one hour or so.
NY BON application can be found at http://www.op.nyed.gov. You only need to submit "Form 1."
The Special Credentials Verification can be found at http://www.CGFNS.org, as well as the Visa Screen Application.
Once you have received documentation from NY that your credentials have been received and approved, submit payment to Pearson-Vue for the NCLEX exam. http://www.perasonvue.com. They are the ones that will actually send you the ATT letter, upon approval of the Board of Nursing. Be aware that this ATT (authorization to test) is only good for ninety (90) days. You will have onlt that amount of time to get the exam done in, otherwise you will lose your payment and have to start again.
Hope that this helps................ :balloons:
Most importantly, NY will issue you the license without a Social Security Number.
Thanks for the answer Suzanne,I was about to send the Authorizations for Validation of License and Transcripts signed and also enclose in the envelope the official documents which I actually have in my hand... so you are telling me not to do it because it would be a waste of time and documents, aren´t you?
So, I only have to send the authorizations?
Thank you, and sorry if I m too much persistent but I am really confused and this is soooooooooo important to me
Thank you, I am grateful and do love you for all your help
Do not send the official documents, they will not be accepted if going the route of NY with the CVS. Only send the release for the documents for CGFNS to obtain them. Ot you will be waiting for months, and months. NY requires that CGFNS obtain the documents that are required.
One fo the reaons that I also like NY route the best, in addition to you getting a hard license that can be endorses, is that you only need to fill out the CVS applicaiton and sign the releases. VSC can use the same documents that they receive with the CVS application, you just need to pay the fee for that and send the application.
Do not make it harder on yourself.
Hi there; i have a question which i prefer to ask privately because of the nature of it. Please email me atand i.d who you are so i know to reply. thanking you in advance.
It's not advisable to post your email address in an open forum, you leave yourself open to problems. I'd advise you to edit & erase it right away. I'm sure the Mods will advise this.
Just trying to help :)
I try to figure out options of taking NCLEX in Illinois.I got confused when I read the application form for NCLEX in Illinois BON, it was clearly stated in the application packet that the SS# is mandatory. How could that be if you're a foreign graduate nurse and never even been to US?
You can take the exam for them but they will not issue you a license until you give them the SSN#. Same as with many states. You will need to get a CES for Illinois before they will even process your application.

When you get a letter form AZ giving you permission to register for the exam. It will telll you that you have met all requirements for licensure, except for the NCLEX exam.
You have some time out still. The CES needs to be done first and results sent to AZ first.
Just sit tight.
