PH Nurses for USA (Experiences with Employers)

Hello my fellow Filipino nurses! How are you? I started this topic so that we can share our own experiences when it comes to getting employment opportunities in the U.S. Obviously, the pay in the U.S. is pretty much higher as compared to our country.

Actually, I'm one of the abandoned nurses before. Abandoned in a sense that a U.S. agency back somewhere in the 2000s wasn't able to give me my dream of working in the said country. Back then, there was a retrogression or the economic downpour in the U.S. and that's why they have backed out. As of now, I think the U.S. is already bouncing back and I already heard a lot of employers who are interested to hire Filipino nurses. I don't have any idea what to do since it involves money, time, and patience. Also, I'm scared if same thing will happen again. Have you heard about MMML or any other agencies?

to all filipinos who are uS registered nurses, dont be demotivated by the negative feedback of some nurses (currently staying in US) about like this and like that, that there are no jobs for you anymore. that is not true. for the past 2 years US have been hiring nurses in the Philippines. How did i know that? go to POEA - Philippine Overseas Employment Administration then find the

link that says 'available job orders' somwher in the right side of the poea webiste homepage. you then select the jobs by country and choose USA.. there you can see all job orders for nurses bound to USA.. almost all agencies with nursing vacancies have minimum of 100 slots ang again thats per agency. So dont listen to those people out there. cz thats what you call crab mentality! at the present, prirority date is now 2010. it was 2007 a year and a half ago. therefore, its moving fast now.

Do you also believe in Unicorns?

I looked at the list, they are not such jobs available here in USA for Filipino Citizens, this website is full of lies.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Just because a job is listed online it doesn't mean that the employer has any intent on filling the job (with a citizen, PR, or immigrant). Basing decisions on online job postings is just setting yourself up for disappointment as there are many listings but few jobs, not to mention in some areas hundreds of applicants for a single job.

Specializes in Hemodialysis, Operating Room Nurse, PACU.

I do believe in Unicorns! :)

As well as psychosis. :-p

Ignore 'em JusyBeachy. Because I believe in Unicorns so much, I just got approved for a green card to work in the states. So did six of my co-hires. We're just wrapping things up here in the Philippines.

Like what I always say, we IENs will get the last laugh. Lol

If I remember correctly, he had a job in Canada that didn't live up to his expectations and I think he flounced home rather than try and build a life here.

And how long did it take to get a GC? We are not saying it is impossible just hard

Okay here we go... Just to shed some light in the subject.

i became a PR in Canada in June 2012. Lived in BC until May 2013, moved to Hamilton, Ontario the following month... Passed the RPN exams January 2014 (because I am an IEN). PRIOR to all of these, I had an employer in NY state who filed for my EB-3, never gave up on me ever since. the moment I became current, I dropped everything I was doing and went back home to have my US embassy interview.

the rest is rock and roll history.

just goes to show that believing that the moon is made of cheese and unicorns do exist can really make things happen. LOL.

Took me 4 years. From approval to the actual visa stamping

why the hell should i waste my time living in a country who won't *******' give us foreign nurses or all skilled workers in that matter, a fighting chance? Just because our skin color is different and belong in a different creed instantaneously means that we don't deserve a good job? C'mon! All of my buddies in canada who were doctors, lawyers, engineers, phds holders and nurses (of course) from other countries are working as burger flippers, pizza delivery boys, janitors and all those jobs that are insulting to skilled professionals.

for the record I have nothing against engaging in menial jobs. I totally respect that. But pushing skilled workers to the limits by presenting near-impossible requirements for professional licensure is clearly unfair. Personally, we perceive this as racial discrimination masked as 'protocols and guidelines' Yeah right...!

oh and I didn't flounce.... I high-tailed it out of Canada.

Then you waited like others did.

I am sorry you had a bad experience in Canada that is one thing I have not seen or heard happening in the province I live in. I am sorry you think it is a hard process to go through as a skilled worker but the country has the right to expect applicants to meet their requirements and many other countries do this like the UK, US for physicians can be even harder, Australia to name a few
