Hi! I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines. I really decided to join this website because I have so many questions in mind that is bothering me right at this moment. This is regarding my plans of working in Illinois. I will be taking the CGFNS exam this July. In God's grace to pass, I'm planning to take IELTS exam and apply for an NCLEX examination. I would just like to ask an advice from you if what exam should I take first? Is it the IELTS or apply first to NCLEX? And how many months does this application will be approved by the Illinois BON? Because I've heard from my friends that it will took us a couple of months for our application to be approved by the Illinois BON for us to take the NCLEX exam. Is it true? Thanks ahead for your reply... God bless!!!

Hello everyone! :specs:

I've been reading all the messages in this thread and it really really helped me a lot. I was supposed to apply at California but God was so good that I was able to read on one of Ms. Suzanne's post regarding the licensing procedure problems in CA. Thank you so much for really helping us who are just newbies here.

From what I've read in the posts, there's no 5-year experience requirement in IL. Is that correct? I've been observing the posts, and I found out that most of the applicants for IL are newly grads.

Another thing, is it advisable for me to take MSN here in the Philippines while waiting and processing my files for IL? I just don't want to waste time and I'm afraid that if I immediately apply for a job, it will eat my time from processing my papers...well I do want to have experience but I'm still confused with these things.(is my perception correct? or am I not getting it?)

I also want to ask if IL BON will issue your license after you already have your visa with you? Is the visa issued by CGFNS different from that of the US Embassy?

I'm also a newly Registered Nurse here in the Philippines and PRC has not yet released our license, is it advisable for me to wait for my license to be released before proceeding in applying the CES?

THank you everyone!

I'm really new here, please bear with me...This really is a big help.

God bless everyone. :wink2:

Looking forward to your replies:heartbeat

i'm also a newly registered nurse here in the philippines and prc has not yet released our license, is it advisable for me to wait for my license to be released before proceeding in applying the ces?

i also have this dilemma, i don't know if i can start processing my ces and my il application form even if i don't have my license yet.

can anyone enlighten us, if it's still okay to process ces even i still don't have my license here in the philippines?

also another question, about the application form for idfpr, i don't have to send ed-nur, right since i was educate here in the philippines and not inside the u.s. or one of its territories, right? i got little confuse because some people in this thread said they sent ed-nur with their application.

thanks in advance... i hope someone can answer our questions...

You need a license number for your CES, if you have it then go ahead. I wish to emphasize that you cannot change the numbers (license number) in the field for the online CES application so if you make a mistake, you will have to cancel the order and you're back to square one in terms of answering the question fields.

ED-NUR will be accomplished by your school registrar and returned to you so that you can mail it to Continental Testing Services along with the other forms.

Hope this helped!

Good luck!

okay, thanks jmolina... But is the ED-NUR really necessary? It was not written in the instruction packet that ED-NUR should be passed since I was educated outside US. I thought the CES was proof enough, right?

Sorry for asking again, I just want to make sure, because if I have to send the ED-NUR, I have to pay the school for their trouble. I don't want to pay something that may not necesarily be needed. thanks...

please correct me if i'm wrong, it doesn't say in the packet that ed-nur is needed, just the ct-nur. it's under general instructions i think.

anyway i will be paying and submitting the necessary requirements to cgfns (for the ces) and continental testing service next week at the same time. that's ok right? because i had someone go to the prc office for me for my ct-nur and the verification of my local license from cgfns and they will send it at the same time so that both forms could be accomplished at the same time. that's ok right? so that all that's missing is the ces report which cgfns will forward to cts? there's a 3 year application period in IL right?

hope someone could enlighten me. thanks!

...and how do i know whether cts has recieved my signed application plus money order that i sent through mail?

I just want to ask: how do i request for the fingerprint cards? I cant seem to find the email.

I have been seraching for the link, seem like i cant it in this site.

Pls help thanks

Hey guys, I got my ATT :yeah: and I'm scheduled to take the test by Jan 21. Pls pray for me. As much as I want to stay cool, I can't help but feel nervous. :uhoh3:

BTW, since I was advised by the CTS (through phone) to register ahead in pearsonvue (without receiving any notice of eligibility) that means I'm clear to go right?

Also, how long will it take for the results of the NCLEX to be out? Some of my friends got their results quickly while others have to wait for months...

This is the e-mail address where I requested for a finger print card.

Yup, 3 years for everything including passing the NCLEX exam.

It's OK if you'll do things concurrently but keep these things in mind:

1. The agencies (CTS and CGFNS) would not process anything until all required documents are in.

2. They would not process anything until they get the full payment.

CTS (in my case) did not respond to any of my queries through e-mail (sadly) but they en cashed the bank check that my brother sent them (within the US) and I had to call them after 5 months to check on my status. I was then advised to go ahead with the registration in pearsonvue.

Pearsonvue give ATT so you must have registered already with them, if you haven't then you haven't got ATT just eligibility so need to register with pearsonvue and they will send ATT. Results will all depend on BON and how quick they release your results

I also applied at BON-IL and now I'm a US RN in IL. I applied last year and I did not submit ED-NUR because it's only for US educated nurses, unless they've already changed their process.

I suggest that applicants read the packet very carefully and understand what is written there, especially the instructions. This will avoid wasting money and time.

However, the man at the NBI office, oddly enough, refused to process my fingerprint card saying that my card is 'private' (???)... Probably because it looks different from the other US cards that were sitting on his desk... Now, what... :crying2:

I was wondering if you guys know any alternative way I can get my fingerprints into my FP card in a legal way... Or are there any centers that offer fingerprinting services? I went into great pains and waited quite a time to get this card and it just annoys me that they refused to process it because it looks different... :angryfire

Anyway, I'm gonna try the police tomorrow.... Although I'm quite sure they'll just tell me to go back to NBI again... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks as always...

Are you still in Cebu? As far as I know, fingerprint cards from US (e.g. IL, NY, NJ, Cali, etc.) are brought to NBI-Carriedo (in Manila). Go to 6th flr and you will fill out some information in a record book there. Then go to 5th flr to have your card fingerprinted. You'll encounter a lot of nurses going to US with there fingerprint cards on the 6th flr.

Try calling your local NBI office if you have to go to NBI-Carriedo or if your local NBI is allowed to do that.
