Please get a referral from your family doctor to a urologist asap. THIS is the person who can HELP you make a safe, informed decision regarding adult circumcision. I wish you the best,whatever you decide. Take care.

I had a 30 something year old patient some years ago who had a circumcision, and the outcome was one he was totally happy with. The ice packs are applied to help relieve the initial swelling, take the pain meds a few days, and you should be fine. :)

It's always better for a male to be circumcised shortly after birth, but there are many adults who are not. Just make sure you get a darn good doctor to do the procedure, or you may not like the outcome if you just settle for any doc. :nurse:

Please don't discourage the young man. He's simply asking for a little help and advice. He hasn't asked anyone to perform surgery. And, given the nature of the beast I'm sure he wants a little anonymity. I don't know about you, but I'm a nurse and teaching is part of my profession. So please don't shoo people away like that. I'm sure he all ready feels a little uncomfortable discussing the matter so If you don't want to help grab another thread.

You're obviously an old enough young man to be able to make an informed decision about your situation. You need to be entirely sure why you're doing it. There are always risks associated with all surgery. If your decision is simply vanity then you need to be absolutely positively consciously completely sure that the risk is worth the reward in your case. Being a man and without having the process done as an adult, I can tell you without hesitation it's going to hurt. I mean really hurt. You need to check with your insurance company to make sure a procedure such as a circumcision will be covered. But before all of that you need to find a good trusted urologist or maybe a plastic surgeon. This type of surgery may be done in an outpatient surgery center. Either way see a Dr. then go over the risks with the MD. Then go over them again on your own for at least several more weeks before making any kind of commitment. There's certainly no rush. Bear in mind there's no going back. You have several nerves and numerous tissue types down there that could be damaged and infection is always a possibility. It would not be unheard of to loose sensation and or function to the extremity. In my opinion that's a whole lot of unnecessary risk to take over some vanity. I'm not here to encourage you nor discourage you but to plainly make you do some serious soul searching before going under the knife. If you have more questions, please make them very specific.

Indeed, but make sure you DO address them with a urologist ....

It is your body so go for whatever makes you happy. I am wondering why? Some men report that they lost some sensation after the procedure. I have heard that the extra skin provides extra pleasure and sensation to both partners. Uncircumcised men are becoming more common now as the word is out that this procedure is not necessary for all males and insurance companies are not paying for it as a routine procedure. In the US circumcision is common but it it isn't in most of the rest of the world. Good luck.
