You or your family member is sick and you bring out the stethoscope to see if you can hear abnormal lung or bowel sounds!

* When you have 8 text books open and laid across your kitchen table.

* When you start assessing older people's "Fall Risk" when you are out.

* When you start showing signs of chronic stress - HTN, acne, fatigue, illness..

* When you wonder what you could possibly do with all this time off over X-mas break.

-When you start giving yourself nursing diagnoses... deficient knowledge related to inadequate studying time... Risk for self-care deficit related to overabundance of homework. haha

and I totally assess people when I'm out all the time! It's so ingrained.

Specializes in PICU/Pedi.

When you overeat at dinner and diagnose yourself as having a "Food Volume Excess" (My boyfriend said I was a dork for saying this, of course)...

You are ticking off care plans in your head for most situations that arise during the day. Really...standing in the line at the grocery store, sitting in traffic, looking at the ever growing pile of laundry. Ugh, it's like a sickness! :D

Specializes in -.

- You find latex gloves in all your pockets and even shoved down your bra

- You suddenly carry a pen everywhere

- You don't bat an eyelash at blood / poo / vomit etc anymore

- When your friends get home from the doctors they ask you to explain all the medical terminology for them in simple terms and ask you if you think the diagnosis is right

Specializes in critical care nursing, ED, education.

After several days of heavy snowfall you are packing up a Winter kit for the car...you know, extra gloves, a set of jumper cables, etc. and you decide an extra N-CLEX book should be in there just in case you get stuck somewhere and don't have your books with you.

When your watching med shows with the significant other, and physician says their going to order ABG's....and explain to your partner what ABG is and why its sooo important!! LOL

Good idea!

Last Summer when I was working at my cashier job, I kept one of those Mosby's F&E notecards books in my purse so that I could study between customers when I was bored.

... you have a bag of i.v. fluids in your house and no one who actually needs them.

Thought of this last night when I was searching for a paper. We were given a bag of fluids to practice drip rates and I have mine in the kitchen cabinet still. I have no clue what to do with it. I'm considering letting my kids play with it in the tub.;)

When you drive around with a bunch of hypodermic needles in a (skills kit) bag and it doesn't cross your mind what would happen if a police officer pulled you over and found you with "possession of drug paraphernalia!"

Your room is so filled with rolls of tape, left-over alcohol swabs, piles of scrubs and books, etc. that it could easily be featured on an episode of Hoarders (A&E)...

LOL that is so funny. I cleaned my room yesterday since I finally had a chance and it made me think of that show.

-also when friends, family think you are blowing them off and don't think anyone does homework all day on a Saturday

Yeah, my boyfriend lectured me on the hazards of driving around with that kit in my car!

Here's another one: When you threaten to practice giving shots on the kids if they don't behave .
