~You don't sleep; and when you do, you have nightmares about exploding heads with brains leaking out onto your desk.

~You learn the time the landlord puts on the sprinklers (3:45 am) by experience because that's the only time you have to get to the supermarket.

~You call your father's MD about his broken ribs, and discuss pathological fractures in an otherwise healthy 86 year old.

~You break bones in your face, and have all your fellow student nurses feel the divots in your supraorbital cup (I fell off my horse onto my face. I was wearing a helmet, and yes, took two exams with post concussive syndrome. This is not advised.).

~You sustain a giant hematoma on your leg (from the same accident), and bug your MD about DVTs, positive Homan's signs, and compartment syndrome...'cause you got all three at once, and the MD just laughs.

~When you're sitting there, being evaluated for a subdural hematoma, and you're wearing your school t-shirt...and the MD starts quizzing you on why no pain meds will be RX'd...and you get all the answers right...and it doesn't help the pain at all, but you feel quite proud of yourself.

~You use the bruises you're sporting on your face and leg to develop rapport with your clinical patient.

So many other things...but those will do for this morning...

Wow, I just read all..lets see..354 of these. I can't wait until I can contribute, but until then, I'm making my friends nervous warning them that I want to practice on them :) :sofahider

You consider just going to buy new socks & underwear rather than search through the five baskets of piled up laundry that you have no time to sort through and put away.

It would be so much easier to just buy some new stuff! But, then again, I am in nursing school which also means.. I'm broke! LOL

Here's a great one that happened to me last night...

You know you're in NS when you are sitting at Zaxby's with your best friend (who is a history major)...waiting on your to-go order...you cough really hard and something flies out of your mouth...you hold it in your hand...squeeze it...assess it for color and odor and say, "I should probably get on some antibiotics before this gets too bad"...and your friend gags and wretches next to you...hahahahahahaha...

Or that you're so excited when your clinical instructor accidently steps in your patient's bowel movement because you finally have your first nursing poo storey!!! (By the way, my instructor was very cool about it, until she left the room and started laughing her head off!)
