You know you are in nursing school when ctxt

Published

Lets start a fun thread that describes a nursing students way of life.

For examply always broke but gotta have those drug cards.

stuff like that

You know you are in nursing school when ....

your car looks like its lived in. :chuckle

Your friend comments that your car looks like a library. :uhoh3:

Lunch consists of chewing gum and a bag of peanuts. :balloons:

You are always broke but find money for a NCLEX - RN study guide and hold off on buying a new pair of jeans. :rotfl:

Everyone in your family and all of your friends come to you with their problems. Then they want a diagnosis even if you just started school. What about us? We are the ones that need a dx. such as anxiety and depression!

You know you're a nursing student when .....

You wake up to notecards everywhere..... all over your bed, under the covers, tangled in the sheets

I just now had that happen (again), seems like I would learn!

What about finding your dining room table. It is no longer a place to eat. Notecards, books, care plans, folders, etc.

:rotfl:

you know your in school for nursing when .... in my sleep i tols my husband i give him 5cc demeral :chuckle

You feel guilty for reading three pages of this thread!

(with a test two weeks away)

:balloons: ~Ali

So many of these posts ring true for me. I have really enjoyed reading and laughing this afternoon, but this post has to be the most fitting. You know you are in nursing school when what once was a normal everyday thing (i.e. shower/bath, eating) makes you feel guilty for not studying. Good luck to you all. :nurse:

I am in my L/D clinical rotation.

My bedroom is just above the room with the washing machine, which I can hear running right now. And I just found myself taking the pulse of my washing machine. It sounds just like a fetal HR!!!.... AND the washing machine even has a "pulse" of 165!!! I actually counted it!!

You know you are in nursing school but wonder what good it is doing when you are so busy you forgot to check the posted grades for the last two exams in two different classes, and can't REMEMBER what either exam contained, to say nothing of the questions you got wrong....SCARY!

...when you buy mechanical pencils and yellow highliters in bulk from Sam's club and get excited at how much money you saved.

...when you feel guilty for relaxing and watching Friends reruns you've seen a jillion times because you could be reading.

...when you've seen 4:00 in the morning from both sides: waking up and haven't gone to bed yet.

...you have more blank tapes and batteries than a Radio Shack in your bookbag.

...when you clean your earrings with alcohol wipes you stole from the hospital, which are also in your bookbag.

...when EVERY SINGLE PERSON you know wants to ask you about their diabetes, cholesterol level, fitness program, migraines, etc. because they want your advice (which I admit I actually kinda like! :chuckle )

...when you can remember the grades on all of your exams since the first semester and what questions you got wrong.

:uhoh21: You know you're really in nursing school when your family is surprised when you are home...

:uhoh3: ...and when people you know outside of nursing school greet you by saying, "Wow, you look tired" but nobody in your class can tell how you look (or even care) because everyone's eyes are still shut during report and for the first half hour of all a.m. classes...

:uhoh3: ...and you are caring for lots of elder patients who all seem to have pneumonia and you realize your own FEV is terrible from holding your breath so often during exams and clinicals.

:uhoh3: ...AND your dog even makes you feel guilty because she has gained 5 lbs. from never being taken for walks anymore since you have to get up at 5 a.m. in freezing weather...

:uhoh21: ETC.

 What our future patients would think if THEY could read all these great and completely true comments from their nurses' school experiences!

 Whether we survive it or not, we are all better human beings for the experience, wouldn't you say? Deep, restful slumber sometime this week to all of you.

i have to stop myself when writing notes to my husband (you know, b/c i leave the house way before he's awake!) from using nursing abbreviations-like the c for with, r/t, and so on, lol.

more than a decade out of nursing school, I still do that to my husband along with military time, such as "I have a meeting at 1830, I'll see you later..." :chuckle

Eating microwave popcorn out a clean bedpan is perfectly natural.

oh, that doesn't end with nursing school - I've lost count of how many meals/snacks I've eaten out of clean emesis basins!!!

You know you're in nursing school when...

You hear a drug commerical come on tv and go running to hear what they say because it's a med you're currently studying...
