I have been having a debate about this with some people. They swear that it's so true, but I just don't believe it. I actually think it's kind of silly, an old wives tale at best. Someone even told me that the MD's and RN's tell mothers this before they are discharged, but I have two kids and have NEVER heard of such a thing.
So I wanted to come here and ask some of you experienced nurses about this. Have you ever heard of it and if so is there any validity to it?
Must cause consstipation!! Imagine that. Who would consider such a notion.
We had a patient on our unit once that at the front desk declared that nobody on their period was allowed to touch their baby. It was passed on in report each shift and we all laughed. I never took care of them, but they were caucasians, don't know if it was religious or not. They actually asked every woman who entered the room if they were menstruating.

LOL! Seriously?!?
Did they actually expect people to tell the truth when they asked them that? That is weird on so many different levels...To have a stranger ask if you were on your period is beyond going too far

I'm not sure what this is the same but I heard people say that drinking mountain dew killed the mans sperm count so drinking a lot of it would prevent pregnancy. I heard this when I was a teenager, pretty funny.
