York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

Published

Hi everyone!

Interested to know who else will be applying for the 2nd entry program at York U for Fall 2014!

Hello, I have also applied to York's 2nd-entry entry nursing for Sept 2014. This is my absolute 1st time applying to an accelerated nursing program so I have no idea what my chances are. I have a cGPA of 3.36 overall and a GPA of 3.72 in my last 30 credits. I am an external candidate. Does anyone know how early the acceptances come in?

Thanks. Wish you all the best of luck.

I am an external applicant too! I guess the acceptances should come as early as February! After the deadline....Which university did you study? Is your GPA out of 4?

Have you finished all your prerequisites?

Good luck :)

The prof may be funny but so disorganized! Have no idea how to study best for this course...the textbook is very detailed....

Are you done with your prerequisites? Do u have to take any in the summer?

Thanks. Yup, the GPA I listed was out of 4. I go to Ottawa U, you? I am done all my prerequisites. I heard they generally receive around 800 applications which is kinda crazy...makes it that much harder. Did you or anyone else in this forum apply elsewhere? I also applied to U of Alberta (although I heard their CBL format isn't great...).

I have my honours BSc in Psychology from UofT. My CGPA is 3.38 and my last 30 GPA is 4. I have 2 prerequisites left...Taking Microbiology right now and I may have to take an anatomy course in the summer as well. I'm not sure...waiting to see what they say...

I only applied to York.

Good luck :)

When I went to York last week, admissions told me that they accept around 120 external applicants and 20 or so internal. So, 1/8 odds of getting in....It's nerve wracking

I wonder what the odds are for internal applicants. I assume around 100 internal applicants apply and about 20-30 get in.

I have spoken to numerous people around the campus as well as people in the Nursing department and they all say that 20 people are accepted yearly from the internal applicant pool. Not quite sure about how many internal applicants apply though :/. But yes it is very competitive and everything is based on marks.

Can someone from York tell me tell me how I should convert my CGPA and GPA from 4 point average to whatever system York uses?

Here Sahar, this should help :)

I tried to figure out this GPA conversion business! If I did it correctly, my CGPA is 7.3 and my 30 credit GPA is 8.4....not sure though!

Now...I'm taking microbiology right now at York on Wednesdays...anyone interested to meet let me know...we can meet up before the class and share thoughts :)

I need one last course...human anatomy....either I'll take it in the summer at York (hoping that it's offered then) or online....

Anyone knows if I'd still get conditional offer or have to wait for my marks till the end of spring/summer?

is it better that I take anatomy online now? will that increase my chances of getting early admissions? just hate waiting and not hearing a definite answer from admissions....have called them so many times...:(
