I'll be applying as well as an internal applicant!
@chatpal: Possible for you to tell me your cgpa and gpa in last 30 credits as of now?
I hope I have a chance, my cgpa is a 6.0 and last 30credits is a 6.5
I'm also in my second year but a sociology major and am working on my last few prerequisites now. So far my GPA is at 7.09 however I still have this years marks that will also be taken into consideration but so far I'm doing well. Hoping that I have a chance!
That's great, Karina! A 7.0 is a great avg, definitely have a great shot. :)
I have a couple of courses this year as well, hoping I can get up to a 7.0 haha
@rajm my cgpa is 6.67 and last 30 credits is a B+, I hope i'll be able to get an A in my last 30 and raise my cgpa to a 7.0 by end of the year. i'm currently getting an A in my anatomy and i already have an A in my human physiology course. Sometimes i wish i had just dropped chem 1000, the D+ in that course hurts my cgpa so much. But the rest of my grades are all above a B.
@chatpal, that is good especially if you get up to an 8.0! Man, I really need to get to the 7.0 mark :(Hopefully us 3 get a spot haha.
It's just so nerve wrecking considering there are only 20 internal applicant spaces available and knowing how competitive it is and how many people are going to be applying for the same position. Ahh!
@rajm its tiring and im not sure if my marks are even competitive enough. I actually came down with a really bad fever a few days ago because i was studying for very long hours towards my statistics midterm, anatomy midterm, and psychology test. the good news is that i got 95 on my statistics midterm. In hindsight I have no idea why i took the math statistics, i heard it was the hardest statistic course you could take.
@KarinaMM are you sure it was 20 internal applicants, i read on last year's board there was talk about either 20 or 30 spots for internal applicants. Besides you have really good marks, i don't think you should stress out too much. My only question is since its my second year in university i won't have all my prerequisite courses done until april. Does this matter when i apply in January? or as long as they see that i will have my prereqs done its okay.
anyways i'll be taking microbiology in the winter semester, so maybe i'll see you guys then. good luck with your studies!!
@chatpal, what's the course code for the stats course you're taking? 95 is really good I will be taking microbio & stats next semester, so I hope I dont pick the hardest stats course haha. Im a second year student as well, I spoke to admissions and they told me that internal applicants wont hear back until May-June, so completing the requirements in April is perfectly fine!
PS. Your marks are definitely competitive, I know someone who got a 6.5(cumulative), and 7.5(last 30) who got accepted. If anything, I have to step up the most haha.
Goodluck everyone! :)
I've been meeting with a rep in the nursing department at york and I was told that they take about 20-25 internal applicants. I'm also in my second year of studies at york and won't be finished with all of my prereqs until April which according to the department is fine. They just want to see that you are enrolled in those courses so that they see that you are on your way of completing what you need in order to qualify.
im taking math 1131, definately hope i'll get in. good luck!
