York University 2nd Entry Nursing 2014

World Canada CA Programs

Hi everyone!

Interested to know who else will be applying for the 2nd entry program at York U for Fall 2014!

Anyone else hear yet? Do you think they are sending out a few offers each day or just compiling marks and sending out a mass of them at once?

I'm just guessing but my deadline to accept was May 13 - maybe they are waiting until that day to see how many spots they have left and then send out another chunk of offers.

York sends its acceptances out in several batches.

Ambrr, when did you receive your offer if you don't mind me asking? What I'm wondering is how long they gave you to accept it to see if perhaps they are sending out offers every two weeks and then waiting for the acceptances and sending out another mass of them, or something similar to this.

They sent me an email with the offer on April 30th, so yep that's exactly two weeks before the deadline. After I received the email I saw that myfile had also been updated, but OUAC wasn't updated until a day or two later.

Hey for those of you interested, my marks were finally updated. I received my offer about 3 weeks ago, pending I passed all my courses in my final year. So overall my cGPA is a 6.48 (mid B) and in my last 30 credits I earned a 7.7 (high B+). Hopefully that gives everyone an idea of where York is at with their offers. Good luck to all! :)

I just received my offer. My cumulative is around 6.4 and my last 30 is somewhere in the high 7 range, close to 8.

I have not received an email, but it was updated on myfile and it told me that I would be able to accept the offer through OUAC within 1-2 business days once that site updated. I was able to book my academic advising appointment for May 27th. I don't know if everyone's says this but mine said that it was an appointment for anyone who may have credits which are applicable to exempt from courses. Is that what other appointments have specified? I do have a degree in Life Sciences plus did all the coursework for a Master's degree so I have already been looking at the courses and identified a couple that I may be able to apply courses I have done to. It would be wonderful if I am able to do so and reduce my course load because I am a mom with two young kids so any extra time that I don't require daycare for is a plus financially!

You can be exempt from the CHEM course(s). There are two of them, I've seen people receive exemption from biochem, but I'm not sure if you can be exempt from pharmacology. There are no exemptions for any of the other courses.

The wait for internal applicants continues to drive me insane!

Hello!

Like you, I'm an internal applicant.

Tell me about it!! The wait is making me go crazy! I have been looking at this forum since Oct (almost everyday) and have yet to hear from the internal applicants on whether they have been accepted yet. I cant wait!! Goodluck to those waiting!

York hasn't sent out any acceptances to internal applicants yet so don't take not having heard back as a bad sign. I'm hoping they'll start next week... although it could still be another...

Tbh I'm pretty confident I'll get in! But I have no idea if internal applicants need to book an enrolment appointment or anything. I just have no idea what to expect, I can't find any info from previous internal applicants anywhere.

I totally forgot to say this--congrats on getting into the program!!

Thanks! :) Very excited!

My MSc was in biochem so I figure I may be able to be exempt from that, and I do have 4th year pharmacology courses as well, but I completed those more than a decade ago so I don't think I would even bother trying for an exemption. Although I've looked at my old texts and remember most of it, I could still use a refresher. I was wondering if they ever offered exemptions for the elective courses to those who have enough courses? Looking forward to meeting everyone in September :)
