That. is. insanity!! She must have to take hormones the whole pregnancy... did she not go through menopause?! Did the pregnancy go to term?

How unethical. The Dr. who agreed to do this should have his/her license suspended. This is in the same league as Nadia Suleman's fertility Dr. who continued to impregnate her. .

I grew up with older parents - my mother was 43 and dad 48 (and already grandparents) when I was born, and this was not easy . .this 70 year old mom is the epitome of selfishness.

I can't imagine having the kind of energy needed to raise a child NOW, let alone with another 18 years on me. Went through menopause five years ago and have never been happier........why would anyone who's old enough to be MY mother want to do this?

This also seems totally unfair to the baby, who would doubtless lose Mom long before most people are anywhere near ready to face the death of a parent. There's a lot of reasons why God made our reproductive years limited.....this is only one of them. And I think it's insanity to ask the human body to do something at 70 that it was meant to do in its 20s and 30s. Meh.

That story is actually from 2008.

Here is an update from 2010....and guess what ??? the baby is 18 months old and she is dying!!! and the article mentions a 66 year old that had triplets!!!

So sad for the babies that will be left behind with no mother to raise them all because the women are sooo selfish and will sacrifice anything to have a baby, even when it would not be in the child's best interest.

Oh no It said they didn't know, nor were they told the risks of having a baby that old. It's sad, bc where are the babies gonna go now?

I didn't get that at all.

What I read said that due to their cultural beliefs it was worth the risk to themselves to give birth.

I don't necessarily agree this was a smart choice...but can say that I would have to sympathize w/ the fact that they are being treated poorly because they were considered "barren".

I just don't have any easy answers...but am glad I'm not on any ethical panel discussing these cases... Very sad for the babies.
