Heaven over hospital: Dying girl, age 5, makes a choice - CNN.com
It's a bit long but it is interesting. I was curious on everyone's take on it as I don't deal with these types of sick kids. I do think, though, that if the person seems to have a good grasp on what death is and what it means if they choose it over treatment they should be able to. While 5 does seem young she seems to understand it pretty well.
Thoughts?
Something called "reality."It comes in really high doses when I am the one administering it.
I worked in critical care for many years. When the end of life comes, you provide as much comfort to the patient and family as you can instead of trying to force your ideology on them.
If I had a loved one dying, I would want the nurse to be caring, compassionate, and respectful..... instead of someone like you.

It's YOUR reality. Other people have faith in there being someplace to go after they die. It's what keeps them going during times of stress and just bad times. I'm sorry that your atheism has clouded your opinion so much that you come across AS a hateful atheist. I feel sorry for you.
And for the record, I too, am an atheist but I am not a hateful one who believes my way of thinking is the only way. And I also don't try and shove my opinion onto others when it comes to my beliefs. People like you give atheists a bad name.
You believe your personal opinion is "reality". So does everyone else! And everyone is entitled to their opinion. There is no law requiring parents must teach children a certain belief system. It's a little presumptuous of you to assume only you are correct.
I actually find that person to be quite offensive as a fellow atheist. We're not all like that. I have my views but I would never try to shove them unto someone else just because I am so conceited to believe "I am ALWAYS correct".
