Yale 2015

Published

I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.

I am possibly moving from the Bay Area Wombservice. I am still deciding between Yale and UPenn, but if I decide on Yale I will be moving East and needing to move my stuff with me. I was looking at both pods or possibly cramming as much as I could into my car and driving out. I have to decide before March 23rd (Penn's deadline) so I'll definitely keep you posted!

Hello,

First time on this forum, long time reader. I was accepted into the Adult/Gero Specialty. I was wondering if anyone was relocating from Los Angeles, CA Area? I am wondering about housing options if anyone is interested?

Thanks, =)

Denise

Should we make a FB group?

Any idea when financial aid packages are headed our ways?

During the student panel, Yale students were talking about how they created a shared excel where they put down specific things they are looking for in their living arrangements (desired cleanliness, noise-level, partners/$$). It helped them screen each other to narrow down possible roommate choices. It seemed like a really good idea. Maybe we could make one of those?

I was thinking the same thing. But I want to wait for MP's welcome email (if she sends one). She might have a fb group already (Columbia did this).

E-letter stated "the coming week or so," so hopefully end of this week-early next week? I am assuming by the phrase "separate cover" that it will be mailed physically to us?

I am open to either option, although Excel seems like it would be the most comprehensive and easier to look through? I also don't mind waiting

Also, anyone know when Orientation will be? I'm probably getting ahead of myself since this will probably be answered in an upcoming email

I don't know when the orientation will be, but I'm an obsessive weirdo and I've gone through everything on last year's New Student page, including the orientation schedule for last year. It was from August 18-22, so I imagine it will be at a similar time this year.

WombService, DoulaMe and JulieVrgn - I haven't heard back from the professor yet but I did speak with two current students. They said that for the first year and a half of the specialty portion you have antepartum and gyn clinicals in diverse settings - can be private, public, Yale affiliated, local or far away. She also mentioned that there's an opportunity to do home-birth rotations. The intrapartum clinical is done at St. Raphael's hospital which does have a birth tub and balls, but most of what we see is allopathic practice. Like you guys said, there are a lot of options for integration. I talked to a woman doing her integration in Tuba City, AZ! Anyways, it's not too much information but I thought I'd share!

Unofficially, Orientation is August 24-29 and the first day of school is September 2nd. :)

Hey! Anybody else coming from the PNW? I am in Seattle and would love to meet some people before the program starts :).

Does anyone know where most nursing students live? Since the campus is by Orange/West Haven is it still feasible to live downtown and commute to class? I'll be moving from southern Oregon without ever having seen New Haven.
