YALE GEPN 2022

Published

Hi everyone! Wanted to start this conversation for those who are getting ready to apply once the application opens on June 1st 2021.

I am hoping we can all share information, ask questions, and support each other throughout the exciting journey ahead!

Thats just my assumption! Bc at times when I finished answering she kind of slowly talked and typed and apologized saying "sorry, I just want to take notes during so I can fully record what you're saying." And at the end she said she really doesn't know how or when the admissions team decides. And then at the end it was kind of a technical difficulty and she couldn't sign off and she was like maybe I have to submit my notes to admissions before I can end the call. and that was it LOL.. Again, just my assumption and maybe its just my stress trying to analyze it all hahah..

But me saying it doesn't have a weight isn't discounting those that have had communications and thought you really connected with your interviewer! It was just me trying to level the stress for those discounting their own experiences ?

I feel you! The more anxious I get waiting on decisions the more I've started second guessing my interview! But just remember that you were confident in your interview when you did it and its just stress getting to you!

Also the way my interviewer was talking about it it made it sound like they don’t really have an input in the decisions. They basically just write short hand what you said and the discussions you guys had and then they send it off to admissions and that's the end for them. So whether they responded to your thank you email or had communications afterwards, it sounds like it doesn't have a weight really

Chiming in here - that's how mine was too. She said it was up to an admissions committee.

Hey guys! Did any of you send thank you emails to your interviewer? I can't find my interviewers email anywhere.

what did you mean when you said

"So whether they responded to your thank you email or had communications afterwards, it sounds like it doesn't have a weight really"

It was in regards to earlier posts about some receiving responses to our thank you emails to our interviewers and @ChemGirl's response to yours and @Rubytuesday821's comments about communicating with your interviewers afterwards.

They way my interviewer made it sound was shortly after the interview they submit notes and then after that the decision is completely out of their hands. That any communication afterwards simply doesn't have a weight on admissions because the notes are already submitted.

I was just trying to ease self doubt but not trying to negate your experience! If you've been in communications with your interviewer then they must've really connected with you and that probably showed in the notes they sent to admissions! I was just trying to maybe explain that it might not be the case for everyone and bc they're experience wasn't like yours it doesn't mean bad news ?

The anticipation is killing me ahhh

I sent an email before the interview saying I’m looking forward to our meeting, and I sent a copy of my resume (which I know they probably already had). Everyone says to bring your resume to an interview, but this was virtual so I thought I would send it beforehand. She thanked me for that and said it was helpful, however, I did not receive a written reply to the thank you email after the interview. I’m not sure what any of that means LOL but all we can do is know we tried our best.

Ahhh you guys talking about your great interviews and that you got a response from your interviewers is making me so nervous!! ? Thought mine went well but now I’m not so surrree. Ugh I just want to get this waiting behind me ?

Nooo I didn’t mean to make you feel bad, I’m expecting to see you in the Fall @ChemGirl❤️

To add to what everyone else said: I don’t think your interviewer replying or not means anything about your likelihood of acceptance. It just speaks to that interviewer’s specific style and personality IMO! Anything anyone else says about their interview doesn’t really matter because many of us had totally different interviewers.

Everyone is so nice and supportive ?❤️

Decisions are in!

Waitlist for me. Anyone know how fast it moves? ? Being on the west coast, I really want to know sooner rather than later if I am going to be attending....
