Yale GEPN 2021

Published

Hey all! I am reapplying and wanted to create this for everyone applying. I won't be as involved as I was last year, but good luck to everyone! I know they're having seminars and allowing people to schedule one on one consultations for applications.

From combing last year's threads, I'd expect at least the basics - tell us about yourself, why nursing/(your speciality), why Yale, how do you add to diversity of the school. Be able to show you really understand the role of an advanced practice nurse, I believe this is one of the most important things. Also have a few questions to ask the interviewer about the program. And have at least a few anecdotes of how you handle conflict, overcome an obstacle, strengths and weaknesses.

Again from reading past threads, it seems many interviews were super conversational. Also, they said the interviewers had always carefully combed the applicants essays/resume, so be fresh on what's in there and prepared to expound on your experiences.

This is awesome information, thank you so much for your response!:)

@secondtimer14 @futurenp6388 wait wait wait, you both aren't already compulsively checking your emails? haha!

Believe me, I check multiple times a day in case they decide to gift us with an early decision ?

I work 60 hour weeks so that keep my mind pretty much occupied. I occupy myself by not thinking about it so much. Just been relaxing as I was told to do. LOL

Silly question - but I haven't checked my status because I assume we'd automatically get an email if we're offered an interview. Is this not the case?? Should I be checking compulsively too? Ah!

It's not silly at all! Last year they sent a decision notification to everyone in the application portal. They sent an email letting us know when they did that.

When you mention the portal, where exactly are you looking? Would it be listed along with the checklist of all of the pieces of the application?

Thanks!

@TellMeSomethingGood I believe it was a link that just had you log in and you saw the decision right then and there. I know for a fact that you didn't have to go searching for it though.  I believe it was either that or it said decision alongside the checklist.Since I was denied I was super butt hurt and do not clearly recall haha, sorry!

@Psychmeout2 Awesome. Thank you!!

Do you guys think there is any chance we will hear sooner LOL I am dying

Honestly, I may sound weird saying this but getting an estimated date makes me slightly anxious LOL.  I was calmer going day to day knowing it would happen sometime in December. Now I find myself thinking about it more argh!
