Hey all! I am reapplying and wanted to create this for everyone applying. I won't be as involved as I was last year, but good luck to everyone! I know they're having seminars and allowing people to schedule one on one consultations for applications.
@kc_FNPtobe thank you sooo much for that in depth look! I'm very much a visual and detail oriented person, so it's super helpful to have such an elaborate answer ?. Also good to know for people regarding scheduling things between the beginning and the Spring. Of course I know this program is the main focus but for people with kids, have to work, planned vacations, or just someone like me who likes to plan things way in advance when possible.
I'm so scared about med surg, feel like that's been the class I've heard the most people see trips them up or they straight fail.

I'm glad it helped. Honestly, I'm still afraid to plan anything in the future - haha. We do get a full Winter break. Our Spring break was canceled this year. We get a few days off between Spring and Summer sessions. Then, we get 3-4 weeks off before 1st-year specialty (that's what they call your second year). During that 3-4 weeks off most take their NCLEX so they don't have that looming over their heads during the semester (December deadline). Honestly, I'm scared too, haha. However, we all hear LH voices in our heads explaining so perfectly the information we need. I'm hoping her voice will be in my head during our 1st exam on Friday.
Also, ILCE and clinical med/surg (not didactic med/surg) are pass/fail. While in all other courses you need a 74 or better or you fail the program. Previous GEPNs rallied, and they modified the grading slightly this year. We can now retake ONE failed (below 74) exam in each class. However, the highest score on the retake you can get is a 74. We work with the med school and PA students in ILCE and they're 100% pass/fail, so it's pretty frustrating working with students that aren't held to the same expectations as we are.

Wow. Thank you so much! This is helpful, albeit daunting. It’s exciting to think about all of these courses and experiences though, and I appreciate you laying it all out (and underscoring the reality that it’s ever-changing!).

Is anyone else occupied with the thought that the 600 max word count for the essay portion is too short to squeeze in all of your thoughts? I want to say I've hit all the main points (for all 3 points of the template question) but didn't have much room to elaborate. Does anyone else feel this way?
I'm new to this forum so if anyone wants to connect, let me know. Some info that might help others decide if they want to connect-
Career changer, in my 30s, was in hospitality in my 20s, now a clinical research manager, EMT, published 4x (first author 1x), 3.49 uGPA, 4.0 GPA for nursing school, GRE - 50% percentile verbal/quant (justified my score in application), 92% percentile for writing, active in two community centers, applying to PMHNP. Anything else, just ask. Thx
Welcome! You sound like you’re in great shape as far as all of your stats.
Out of curiosity, you mentioned “4.0 GPA for nursing school” - what does that mean?
@wp650 I didn't see anything specific outside of what you're not allowed to use it for(ie another recommendation, essay) There's no word limit or anything.
@kc_FNPtobeI totally understand that about plans, especially in light of everything going on! That's awesome! Not only did people speak up but the fact that action was taken is awesome. Really???? I'm shocked that med and pa are allowed to have pass/ fail for more classes. Yeah for someone like me who usually does bad on the first test ( figuring out how to study/ overall anxiety), knowing I can retake one provides some relief. Do you feel there is camaraderie amongst the cohort and campus community in general?

Good luck everyone!
From talking to Jana, it seems like 50% of the applicants get invited to interview. Then they accept about 35% of those that interviewed.
The interviews are virtual.

Appreciate the info! When you say virtual, do you mean with an actual person or they send you question prompts like other schools? I would much rather talk to a human, I found those video prompts so awkward! ?

@psychmeout2 very nice! I ended up cutting out specific examples and elaborations too! Seems wrong to do so though since I've been trained to always offer evidence for my arguments! Ha! So glad you're applying to psych too!
