Hi All,
I have been on the lookout for the 2020 thread but figured that I'll have to create one. I am sorry if there is one that I am not aware of.
I am a 2020 hopeful that is looking to make a career switch. I was at one of the information sessions where I gained further insights on the application process and the program. I took the GRE yesterday and was around the 50th percentile for both Q&V.
One of the changes to this years' requirements is that you don't need the GRE if you already have a masters degree or would complete one before the start of the 2020 session. I haven't taken the major prerequisites, but I will take and complete them in the summer of 2020.
I will start talking to my recommenders from next week, I have a tentative list that I composed with a view of having them tell different stories about my candidacy.
May I crave the indulgence of both current and past GEPNs and the benevolence of prospective class of 2020 to make this thread the best one yet. Your views and insights are welcome and appreciated!

Is it common for GEPN/MSN students to take advantage of the opportunity to take additional classes? Would it be realistic to try to take an assessment course from a different MSN specialty and/or Spanish language classes on the main campus for example? Thank you for your insight!
It will depend on your specialty. There are some students who are currently taking classes at the law school and the school of public health so you can definitely take advantage of those courses. There are also electives in the other specialties that you can take and of course there are concentrations that you can elect to add to your curriculum.
You will not have time for electives during your GEPN year, everyone will just take the curriculum that is given to you because there just isn’t enough time to be able to take additional classes, there is literally no available space to add to your schedule during your GEPN year.
Yes, there is medical Spanish and this year they added medical Mandarin but from what I have understand the teacher for medical Spanish wasn’t that great and medical Mandarin was at a not so great time for us as nursing students.

For the midwifery specialty, it will depend on when they place you for your clinical rotations especially if you are dual specialty. You might need to have summer clinicals, winter clinicals, or spring break clinicals to ensure that you have enough hours and enough experiences to be able to sit for your boards after you graduate so keep that in mind. It will also depend on the size of your cohort but I don’t expect that your cohort will be larger than the 2019 cohort.

I completely agree! Everyone on here has been super helpful. If admitted, I would love to meet you all in person if I can also get a plane ticket in time. ?
I had my interview for FNP yesterday at 4. Looking back, I can't believe I was as nervous as I was. I had a conversational-type interview that definitely centered around specific questions regarding my application as a whole. I was wondering if anyone interviewed today or if they wrapped them up yesterday. This forum has been an amazing little community and I thank and hope to meet every one of you.

I had my FNP interview this morning. I had a similar experience where I was having a pleasant and easy conversation with my interviewer. She gave me positive feedback at the end of the interview which was really nice. She said to expect to hear back in about 2 weeks!
hey guys... I applied to the GEPN+MSN program for NM/WHNP - had my interview last thursday. Is anyone else DYING to know if they got in? Any tips for surviving this long painful wait? I cannot stop thinking about it!!!! Any chance there will be a sudden miracle and we will all find out in like 1 day instead of 3 weeks?

I had my interview on Thursday also, for the MSN NM. I think they are trying to schedule the admitted students day for early February so I’m holding out hope that they will be releasing decisions as soon as they can to give students enough time to arrange a visit. It’s really hard to wait though!

Yesssss, solidarity is helpful! I’ve not experienced this kind of a suspenseful wait previously...where each single day feels like an entire week. It has helped to share that feeling with you all because no one else that I talk to can relate to this situation. I’m really thankful for the camaraderie!

If I have enough time to notify work and get air plane tickets I will be attending, if admitted.
